Saudi Pro League giants Al-Ittihad are set to make another big signing as they are about to tempt Moussa Diaby away from Aston Villa.

That is according to Fabrizio Romano who has stated that the winger will be leaving the prospect of Champions League football at Aston Villa for the Middle East.

After their mammoth transfer window last summer it was always apparent that the Saudi Arabian clubs would be back for more ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

This move for Diaby, who only joined Aston Villa at the start of last season, is set to cause some big headlines and it looks like it could be good news for Liverpool.

AL-ITTIHAD FIND SALAH ALTERNATIVE

Back last summer when Liverpool trying to focus on rebuilding their midfield there were multiple reports about Mohamed Salah’s future.

That was about a mouthwatering bid from Al-Ittihad worth around £150 million which would have made him one of the most expensive players of all time.

As well as this, reports were stating that Salah would be on a wage which would blow his current salary out of the park at Liverpool.

However, none of this came to fruition with Salah staying at the club but there was always an assumption that there would be another bid in the future.

Although that does now look like it could be in doubt as the incoming arrival of Diaby at Al-Ittihad would hint at the fact that a forward who can play on the right flank as well across the frontline is no longer needed.

It is a five-year deal for the French international so he is committing his long-term future to the club at the age of 25 even though he was a key player for Unai Emery with 19 goals contributions in 54 appearances.

This alludes to Al-Ittihad focusing on using Diaby as their main man in the years to come rather than tempting to lure Salah again which will be a welcome relief to everyone at Liverpool.

Salah was one of the first players back in for pre-season under new manager Arne Slot due to no international tournaments for Egypt and sporting director Richard Hughes has shared his thoughts on a new contract for the Egyptian.

The focus for the legendary forward will now be to get stuck into pre-season with Liverpool as he prepares for another strong campaign at Anfield.
