In this new era behind the scenes at Anfield, Liverpool are expected to make a concentrated effort to bring in more young talent and become one of the leading forces in terms of scouting and recruitment in the game.
And there's one young player on the club's radar show has recently showcased just why Liverpool are so fond of him, showing why he could be ready to make the move to the club in the near future.
Why Liverpool target Momodou Sonko is ready to make move
Anfield Watch exclusively reported that Liverpool scouts are back watching Sonko's games at Gent in the Belgium top flight.
Sonko is a player who has been on Liverpool's radar since he was 12 years old and was even invited on a trial to the club at that age.
Liverpool came close to signing him back in the January transfer window. However, in the end Gent won the race with the promise of first team football.
Sonko's first few months at the club were about acclimatising to the new league and adjusting to a new system. He's now fully settled though and he's in great form, showcasing just why Liverpool are continuing to monitor his progress.
Sonko now has two goals in his last three games in the league for Gent and four goals in his last 10 starts after netting a brilliant finish against Cercle Brugge last weekend.
Liverpool scouts will be especially impressed with the finish, considering not only how sweetly he took the shot but also from the position from which he scored.
Traditionally, Sonko is a left-winger considering he is predominantly left-footed.
However, in his last three games in the league he has been tasked to play on the right wing for Gent and now has two goals from those matches.
It's quite obvious even if Mo Salah extends his future beyond the current season at Anfield, sooner or later the club will be looking for his future heir.
Sonko is only 19 years old at the moment and he continues his development at the same rate very soon he could be ready to make a move to Reds.
The club continues to monitor his progress and view Sonko as a long-term project at Liverpool, and someone who has everything that it takes to become a future player at the club.
Now he just has to continue his momentum and continue to impress the club's scouts.
