And a new twist has emerged that could benefit Liverpool's pursuit of the Ghanaian star: the decision by Liverpool head caoch Arne Slot to bring John Heitinga into his coaching staff.

Heitinga hailed as Kudus' best coach

Heitinga, who spent time with both West Ham and Ajax, has a strong rapport with Kudus, having coached him during their time together at Ajax and the Hammers, where the midfielder thrived under his guidance.

Kudus has spoken highly of Heitinga, saying, "I felt very good under Heitinga. He is the best trainer I had at Ajax. Apart from the training, I have a lot of respect for him in terms of standards and values. Personally, I would have loved to work with him longer."

Heitinga left West Ham at the end of last season when David Moyes and his staff departed.

Kudus potential Salah successor

Liverpool coach Slot, who has also crossed paths with Kudus in the Eredivisie, is said to be keeping a close eye on the situation.

While there have been no official talks between the clubs, insiders reveal that Kudus has made it onto Slot's shortlist as a potential successor for either Mohamed Salah or Luis Diaz, should either player leave.

Kudus, known for his versatility as both an attacking midfielder and winger, has been a standout performer for West Ham. His strength, intensity and lethal striking ability make him a highly sought-after talent.

However, any move for the Ghana international won’t come cheap. His release clause, which reportedly stands at £85 million, does not become active until the summer of 2025.

With Kudus unsettled at West Ham and Liverpool potentially in need of attacking reinforcements, the Heitinga connection could be a game-changer in the Reds' pursuit of one of the Premier League’s stars.
