Mohamed Salah has been on fire for Liverpool under Arne Slot this season, and is on track for another stellar season at Anfield.

After another goal and assist in the 2-0 win over Aston Villa, the Egyptian King has ten goals AND ten assists in just 17 games in all competitions this season.

Liverpool are sitting pretty at the top of both the Premier League and Champions League tables, and are also into the quarter final of the EFL Cup against struggling Southampton.

The Reds’ form under Slot is remarkable in almost every way, with the Dutchman breaking records seemingly with every game.

The only thing that could be improved from a Liverpool point of view so far this season - apart from finding a time machine to go back and beat Nottingham Forest - is the contract situation surrounding Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

All three are out of contract at the end of this season and will be able to speak to other clubs and potentially sign a pre-contract agreement for next season in less than 2 months at the turn of the year.

However, recent developments show how the situation could be set to change very soon, with some of Salah’s contract demands being revealed.

Salah staying at Anfield

The international break has started, with Liverpool players heading off to their national team setups across the world over the course of the next few days.

But Salah is not one of those set to hop on a plane, having excused himself from selection for the Egyptian national team.

It’s great news for Slot, who will be delighted that his star player gets a rest during a long season, but it could be even better news for Liverpool fans who have been calling for the club to pay Salah whatever he wants to stay.

Egyptian journalist Ismael Mahmoud is reporting on X that part of Salah’s decision to stay at home this week is because he and the club will be entering serious contract negotiations on a two-year deal.

“I've been told that Mohamed Salah staying at Liverpool during the international break will be very important for the club to begin serious contract renewal negotiations,” Mahmoud says.

“Been told too that Liverpool knows Salah is asking for a new two-year contract.”

Two more years of Salah would be a dream for Reds fans, taking his time at the club up to around his 35th birthday.

Whether FSG will be willing to offer him a deal of that length remains to be seen, but Salah has answered any questions about his form and fitness this season, and is still going from strength to strength.

Salah's numbers now truly insane. This week alone he climbed above Arsenal legend Thierry Henry in the assists charts in both the Champions League AND Premier League, recording his 17th and 75th assists respectively.

He's also the most productive player in the league this season, with 14 goal contributions so far.

Whatever happens this season, we are witnessing greatness.

Salah linked with Saudi and Galatasary

Salah has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia ever since the PIF increased their investment in the domestic league and started paying incredible wages to players like Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo.

However, Salah's drive to be the best in the world would point away from a move to Saudi, no matter what they offer him.

Galatasaray have also been tipped to shock the world by signing Salah, in a report from Turkish outlet Fotomac.

The report claims that not only have Galatasary met with Salah's representatives, but have offered a stunning annual €20m salary, effectively matching his current Liverpool contract.

Both of these destinations seem unlikely at the moment, especially if contract talks are about to ramp up between Salah and the club over the coming weeks.
