Richard Hughes is undoubtedly the key link for Liverpool in this deal with the sporting director having previously played a role in luring Kerkez to Bournemouth back in the summer of 2023.

But it's not just Hughes in the Liverpool coaching staff who will be very familiar with the left-back.

Arne Slot will have heard firsthand accounts of Kerkez's talent from his previous staff.

Arne Slot's former staff reveal exciting Milos Kerkez verdict

After leaving AC Milan, Kerkez made a name for himself at Slot's former club, AZ Alkmaar, in the Eredivisie.

While he was there, Kerkez was recruited by AZ's technical director, Max Huiberts, who worked alongside Slot during his time at the club.

Meanwhile, he was also managed by Pascal Jansen, who was Slot's assistant at AZ for more than 50 games before replacing the now Liverpool coach at the club.

Back in the summer, both Jansen and Huiberts delivered an exciting verdict on Kerkez which becomes even more intriguing now for Liverpool supporters.

"In all those years I have never seen a player who is so mature at such a young age. He had the total package. If he said he was 25, you would believe it," Huiberts told NOS about Kerkez.

"When he came in, he immediately made an impression," recalls Pascal Jansen, the coach of AZ at the time. "A young energetic guy who really doesn't shy away from anything. He was already a personality then. I thought that was nice and interesting to see from an 18-year-old boy," Jansen said.

Meanwhile, Huiberts also revealed that he had full confidence in Kerkez to deliver in the Premier League.

"We would have liked to enjoy him longer," Huiberts concluded.

"But when several clubs came along, we knew it would be difficult to keep him longer. As crazy as it sounds, I knew he would make an impact in the Premier League at such a young age. I would have trusted few other players with that in all the time I've been doing this job."
