Liverpool transfers: Reds 'would love' £60m Michael Olise to replace Salah

Mohamed Salah continues to be linked with a Liverpool exit this summer, with his contract expiring in 2025 and no news regarding a new deal.

Salah, who turns 32 in June, is the Reds’ highest earning player, on over £300,000 per week, and hasn’t looked like his usual self since suffering a hamstring injury playing for Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations in January.

The forward returned to the goal trail last weekend against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League but incoming sporting director Richard Hughes and FSG’s new CEO of Football will nonetheless have a big decision to make this summer.

Should no new contract be agreed between the club and Salah, then the new power brokers at Anfield could well weigh up a sale as they will not want to lose the striker for free next summer.

Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad failed with a mammoth bid for Salah last summer but could well come back in as the SPL attempts to make Salah the new face of their emerging league.

And if Salah goes then Liverpool will need to go into the market for a high quality replacement.

Michael Olise linked with Liverpool

One player who has been linked with a move to Merseyside is Michael Olise.

The Crystal Palace winger has been in sensational form for his club, scoring twice against Manchester United last week and adding another goal against Wolves on Saturday.

The 22-year-old has returned 10 goals and five assists from only 13 Premier League starts for Palace this season.

The France under-21 international has shrugged off the injury problems which dogged him earlier in the season to become a star player under new Eagles manager Oliver Glasner.

His form has not gone under the radar with talkSPORT pundit Gabby Agbonlahor suggesting that Liverpool as well as plenty more top sides would be interested in adding Olise to the ranks this summer.

The ex-Aston Villa forward believes that Liverpool could well ‘mould’ Olise into the kind of player Salah has become for them since joining from Roma in 2017.

Olise has got a contract which expires in 2027 but it’s believed that the South London side would do a deal for around £60 million this summer.

That, according to Agbonlahor, is something the Reds must consider in the post-Jurgen Klopp future.

Agbonlahor names Olise as 'top, top player'

Asked which of the Palace stars Ebere Eze or Olise he would consider signing, he replied: “Olise, 100 percent.

“If I have to choose out of Olise and Eze, I would choose Olise even though they are both outstanding players.

“Olise is 22, Eze is 25. Good ages. Eze especially at 25, it’s the age where you are like, it’s go time now. Let me go to a big, big club and go to the Champions League. He is getting into the England squad, he will want that to continue.

“Olise as well 22, wanting to get into the French national team, Mbappe leaving. I feel like he would be perfect for PSG. I rate him that highly. Look at the goals he is scoring. That good arrogance he has got about him. The release clause is £60 million.

“There will be so many clubs trying to get that deal. Spurs would love him, Arsenal would love him, Villa would be dying for him, Manchester United are crying out for him. Do you know what I mean? Give Antony. £60 million + for Antony. There you go. You can have him. Garbage.

“Liverpool would love him. Salah leaving Liverpool, could they mould him to more of a winger, [that] plays further in the middle like Salah does? Top, top player.”
