Liverpool DESPERATE to complete SURPRISING double transfer
It seems like Richard Hughes is planning for a big January transfer.
The Liverpool sporting director has not gotten off to the best start so far in his new role. However, he has plenty of time to redeem himself.
EXCLUSIVE: Virgil van Dijk is STAYING at Liverpool
With key contract decisions to be made and the January transfer window coming up, if Hughes can pull off new extensions to all of the Reds' big three and bring in more reinforcements, every supporter will be fully on board once again.
And it seems like that is what he is planning to do. Anfield Watch has exclusively reported that Van Dijk is set to sign a new contract.
Now there's another report claiming Hughes is looking to make moves in the transfer market as well.
Hughes desperate for double Liverpool transfer deal
A report from TEAMtalk claim that Hughes is trying to sign both Martin Zubimendi and Milos Kerkez in the January transfer window.
However, the report claims even though he wants to sign both, Liverpool might only be able to afford one, with the other deal being done in the summer rather than now.
This is an interesting report considering Liverpool are looking in a great shape at the moment. Bringing in Kerkez or Zubimendi would be a huge boost.
However, at this moment in time it doesn't feel like Liverpool need to make further additions.
Hughes though certainly seems to think differently based on the report. It seems as though the sporting director is desperate to bring in both Zubimendi and Kerkez as soon as possible.
With the former the fact that Hughes missed out on him in the summer so publicly and yet he is still pursuing a move shows just how highly he rates the Spaniard.
Meanwhile, with the latter, Hughes has already signed him once before while he was at Bournemouth so clearly he will rate Kerkez very highly.
Undoubtedly, if Hughes can pull off both deals it would be a major coup for Liverpool and something that will fundamentally change perceptions of him within the fanbase.
But for now it would certainly be surprising if he were to do a double deal in January.
