Luis Diaz has been in excellent form at the moment but Liverpool are still exploring their options in the left-wing market.

As well as looking at alternative replacements to Mo Salah, the club's scouts are also scouring Europe for the next best left-winger.

Diaz's form has not changed Liverpool's agenda from the summer when the Reds tried to recruit Anthony Gordon and were also exploring a move for Nico Williams after his brilliant exploits at Euro 2024.

But it seems like their attention could turn towards another winger, who Liverpool have seemingly moved a step closer to bringing to the club.

Liverpool one step closet to signing Jamie Bynoe-Gittens

Liverpool's scouts have been keeping an eye on Jamie Bynoe-Gittens according to Fabrizio Romano, with the Italian transfer guru claiming in his latest YouTube video that the club have been in attendance to watch several of his games this season.

Gittens has been in great form having scored nine goals and registered five assists in 23 appearances for Borussia Dortmund so far this season.

The English winger has proven to be a valuable player for Dortmund. Football Critic's data reveals that out of nine of his goals scored so far, five have been the first of the match - meaning he's brilliant at breaking the deadlock for his team.

Understandably, based on those numbers Dortmund will be reluctant to let him go and that is what the club's managing director reiterated to Anfield Watch back towards the end of last year.

However, while back then Dortmund's stance was very reluctant to letting him leave it seems they are now resigning themselves to the prospect of Gittens' departure in 2025.

That is according to Romano at least, who claims in his report that Dortmund feel it will be difficult to keep Gittens in 2025, with interest from Premier League clubs “more than strong.”

Based on that report, Liverpool are now definitely one step closer to getting a very special winger on their hands. Dortmund's acceptance that Gittens will leave opens the door for the Reds to accelerate their attempts to bring him to Anfield.

And in turn if Gittens were to come in Diaz's fate would surely be sealed. His rival on the left-wing Cody Gakpo is in great form, and while the Colombian has shifted to the no.9 role, that's not going to be a permanent fix for that position under Arne Slot's system.

Sooner or later Liverpool will sign another forward and if and when they do, Diaz will lose his place for that role as well. On top of that, Gittens coming in would pretty much condemn the Colombian to a move away from Anfield.
