Liverpool transfers: Kvaratskhelia could be sold by Napoli this summer amid PSG interest
Reported Liverpool target Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was earlier this week linked heavily with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.
The French champions are shopping for a high-profile attacker with Kylian Mbappe set to depart for Real Madrid on a free transfer at the end of the season.
Gazzetta dello Sport suggested that PSG were ready to offer Napoli €80 million for the Georgian winger, and also Randal Kolo Muani on loan for a season, as well as covering the France international’s wages for the entire campaign.
That is a blockbuster offer, which could have spelled the end of Liverpool’s chase for the Serie standout.
However, no decision has yet been made over the player’s future, with ‘Kvaradona’ under contract until 2027.
It has been reported that Kvaratskhelia is unhappy with his current deal, said to be in the region of €1.5m per annum, in comparison to that of his strike parter Victor Osimhen, who earns around €10m.
The 23-year-old and his entourage were said to be determined to force through a renewal this summer which would increase the forward’s salary. If not, they would seek a deal elsewhere and request a transfer.
Mamuka Jugeli, his agent, has now suggested that Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis would be open to a sale this summer should no renewal come but stressed that Kvaratskhelia is at home in Naples.
"There is no rush to make the decision on the renewal because Napoli is Khvicha's second home,” he told Gazzetta. “We really appreciate the care and respect that the president of the Azzurri has for us."
Regarding a potential sale, he said: "If there is an offer that satisfies us, the club and all the parties involved, without ADL (Aurelio de Laurentiis) opposing the sale then we will be able to talk about it, otherwise there is nothing to discuss on our part about his future, it will be taken taking this into account."
Kvaratskhelia has shone even in the midst of a dismal campaign on the part of the Partenopei. He has scored 10 goals and provided eight assists in 32 Serie A games, as Napoli struggle to live up to their billing as Italian champions.
They have cycled through three coaches this term and have delivered a poor defence of their Scudetto.
Liverpool forwards could depart
The club will not want to lose Kvaratskhelia if they can help it but today’s quotes are an acknowledgement that a move could be on the cards.
Liverpool were previously named as an interested party in the Georgia international and could well find themselves in the market for a big-name attacker this summer too.
Question marks continue to swirl around the futures of Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah.
If incoming sporting director Richard Hughes is to lose any of the aforementioned trio then the Reds could well be in the running to sign the Serie A champion.
