Liverpool transfers: Bayern star Kimmich named as Koopmeiners alternative
Liverpool are now reported to be ready to END their interest in Teun Koopmeiners in favour of an attempt to sign Joshua Kimmich from Bayern Munich.
The Reds are in need of reinforcements in the midfield positions while Kimmich is also able to provide cover at right back if needed.
Currently starring for Germany at Euro 2024, the 29-year-old is out of contract at the Allianz Arena next summer with FC Hollywood now reported to be willing to cash in for what could prove to be a bargain fee during this transfer window.
Kimmich, who revealed in a recent documentary that the sense of trust he felt with the club is now destroyed, is expected to fetch between €30 million and €40m in the market this summer.
Liverpool are among five clubs known to be potential destinations for Kimmich, who is also willing to consider moves to Manchester City, Arsenal, Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Another contender tipped to arrive at Anfield this summer had been Koopmeiners, the Atalanta midfielder who won the Europa League with his side last season.
Liverpool plot Kimmich raid
They have wrapped up the signing of Douglas Luiz, meanwhile, but the latest reports are that they haven’t given up hope of Koopmeiners.
Players will need to be moved on but Tuttomercato web now reports that Federico Chiesa could make his long-awaited move to Napoli, freeing up precious funds to make a run for Koopmeiners.
The midfielder, who worked with Arne Slot at AZ, has a preference to stay in Serie A and the latest developments mean Juve could well get the deal done.
Liverpool dropping out of the running in favour of an attempt to sign Kimmich would appear to confirm that Juve are confident of sorting their finances in order to get a deal over the line.
Kimmich, who earns around €20m per annum at Bayern, was a treble winner in 2020 and comes with vast international pedigree.
