Liverpool have FOUR reasons to believe Jorrel Hato is theirs
Liverpool have four reasons to believe why they will be able to sign Jorrel Hato from Ajax after he was spotted at Anfield.
The youngster attended Liverpool's win over Ipswich and fans spotted him in the stands which has sent social media into a frenzy.
Liverpool FC News Today: Salah RESPONDS as move made for world class star
We've reported in the past that Hato has been linked with a move to Anfield.
As a left-back, he's in great form at Ajax and could be an ideal successor to Andy Robertson's throne. After all Liverpool are looking for exactly the type of profile that Hato is - young and capable of playing as a left-back.
But the question remains, could Liverpool actually sign him? We believe they can and we have four strong reasons to suggest why it's all possible and why the deal is practically in the club's hands.
Perhaps even Richard Hughes won't be able to fumble this.
The Heitinga factor
We've already written about this but one of the main reasons why Liverpool should feel confident about landing Hato is because they have a coach in Johnny Heitinga, working under Arne Slot, who played a pivotal role in the young defender's career.
Heitinga worked with Hato at Ajax's youth level with the youngster playing 21 matches under him.
It seems to have been a really fruitful time for Hato because he was awarded the club's best academy player award and received that award by Heitinga himself.
It's rare that when making the next step up from a club like Ajax you get to do that by joining one of the best teams in the world and working under someone who knows you well.
Heitinga's presence could be a massive trump card for the Reds.
The Ryan Gravenberch factor
As a young player you want reassurances you are making the right choice when leaving your boyhood club for the next step. You want tangible proof that wherever you will go, it will be the right decision.
At Liverpool, Hato has that proof in Gravenberch.
Arguably, the two of them are probably the biggest talents of the last six or seven years to have emerged from Ajax's academy.
Gravenberch made the wrong move to Bayern Munich initially. However, he has found his spark at Liverpool and has flourished under the guidance of Slot.
Undoubtedly, Gravenberch will be a role model to Hato and seeing what he has done this season will give the youngster a lot of encouragement that moving to Anfield is the right decision.
The Virgil van Dijk factor
If you are a young defender coming up right now, you're looking at Van Dijk for inspiration. If you're a young Dutch defender coming up right now, you're especially looking at Van Dijk for inspiration.
Hato is not an exception.
Just take a look at his reaction to meeting the Liverpool captain in a recent clip that has surfaced on social media. His jaws are literally on the floor, he's that star-struck.
It's quite unbelievable. Surely, if Liverpool give him the chance to link up with Van Dijk (pending a contract extension) Hato will snap your hands off - based on that clip it seems like he'd jump at the opportunity.
Jordan Henderson could be the key
If the above three reasons are not enough, there's someone closer to home who could also be pushing Hato towards a move to Anfield.
Former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson is still on the books at Ajax and he's spoken really highly of the young defender in the past.
"It's crazy how young he is, but obviously how mature he looks when he's on the pitch and also off the pitch," Henderson told the Ajax website.
"He's a very mature person. Works hard. Fantastic player. And yeah, he has a bright future ahead of him, I'm sure.
"I think he just needs to continue to do what he's he's been doing. Obviously it's been working for him, but, yeah, I'll try to help him.
"And also, the players if they ask for a little bit of advice off the field. If I can help them I'm sure I'll try and do that, of course."
He's got Henderson's approval and you best believe Henderson will be giving his Liverpool approval to Hato as well if the Reds interest materialises.
For all of those reasons, Hato is a man to keep an eye on. There is a strong chance his move to Anfield is just a matter of time.
