Liverpool linked with Fenerbahce standout who is also attracting Man City and Arsenal
Liverpool could sign Fenerbahce left back Ferdi Kadioglu in the summer according to a report in Turkiye Gazetesi.
The 24-year-old has been outstanding for the Canaries this season as they seek to win a first Turkish Super Lig title since 2014.
Fener have recently lost ground to Galatasaray at the top of the table but retain genuine aspirations of taking the crown.
Dutch-born Kadioglu has been among the club’s best performers this season as a marauding left-back who is capable of taking on his man, making chances and even pitching in with the odd goal or two.
Although he has been fielded as left back for most of this season, he is just as comfortable at right back and could well provide valuable cover for Jurgen Klopp’s successor in either position.
Moreover, as a young player with NEC in the Netherlands - where he was born and grew up - and in his early days with Fener, he covered positions further up the pitch, in central midfield as well as on the wings.
The Turkey international could therefore be seen as a shrewd addition for the Reds, who have seen injuries bite again this season and who can appear at times short of cover.
Having signed with Fenerbahce under the short-lived reign of Phillip Cocu in 2018, Kadioglu initially struggled to make an impact in Istanbul but has gradually grown into a key performer.
Kadioglu could come for a €30 million fee
Kadioglu renewed his contract in 2022 and his new terms extend until 2026.
Fener will have a job on their hands to convince him to extend again, however, with interest picking up in the former Netherlands under-21 all across the continent.
Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal have been mentioned as Premier League suitors while it’s also been reported that Borussia Dortmund, Napoli, AC Milan and Inter are keen.
His club have reportedly already identified a successor in anticipation of summer bids, Karagumruk’s Levent Mercan according to the report.
Kadioglu is going to be one of the most coveted players in the upcoming transfer window and could well provide the additional cover Liverpool need.
German media speculate that it could take €30 million to convince Fener to sell this summer.
