Liverpool fans FURIOUS as 'Klopp's Kids' being dismantled

The sale of another young player has sparked strong reactions from many Liverpool fans who are concerned that progress made in bringing through academy players under Jürgen Klopp is being undone.

Bobby Clark is the latest academy player to leave Liverpool this summer after being sold for £10m to Red Bull Salzburg this week.

Clark played a crucial role for the Reds last season, stepping up to the first team during an injury crisis that forced Klopp to rely on the club's academy to fill his bench.

The midfielder enjoyed a fantastic season last time out, making 12 appearances for Liverpool, including starting roles in both the Premier League and Europa League and a memorable appearance in the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea.

He was clearly highly-rated by Klopp and his assistant Pep Lijnders, who will be his new manager at Salzburg following the move.

The decision to sell Clark has been met with heavy criticism from some Liverpool fans on social media, who are worried about squad depth after a summer in which no signings have been made so far.

One user on Instagram replied to the news asking "why are we selling our future?"

'PAINFUL TO SEE HIM LEAVE'

It seems Clark represents one of the most positive parts of Klopp's last season in charge of the Reds, with fans expressing their dismay at his sale due to the upbeat atmosphere around the quality of the club's young talents.

Ben Doak, Kaide Gordon, James McConnell, Stefan Bajcetic and Tyler Morton are all rumoured to be on their way out either on loan or permanently, following Clark and Fábio Carvalho, who joined Brentford earlier this week.

A quick look through the replies to the announcement of Clark's sale across social media shows how worried many fans are at the prospect of going into this season without making a signing.

GOOD BUSINESS?

While many fans are upset at the sale, the deal could represent good business for Liverpool in the future due to a clause which means they will bank 17.5% of any future sale if he moves on from Salzburg – if he fulfils his potential that could amount to an extra £5-15m further down the line.

The question Liverpool fans will be asking now is if this money will be used to fund any potential incomings before the end of the transfer window.

The club have now brought in approximately £37.5m this summer, with the rumoured sale of Joe Gomez having the potential to add a further £30-40m to the transfer kitty.

So far this summer, the club have reportedly been looking at signing a new goalkeeper, centre back, defensive midfielder and winger.

Georgian goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili looks set to join the club in the next couple of days, but won't do much to alleviate fans' squad depth fears as he will stay at Valencia for the upcoming season.
