Liverpool have scheduled new talks with Valencia over goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili ahead of a proposed €35 million transfer that would see the Georgian eventually move to Anfield.

That’s according to renowned transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, who claims the structure of the deal between the two clubs still needs to be worked out.

The Italian states that the initial fee and sell-on clauses have been settled between Liverpool and the La Liga side with Mamardashvili set to remain on loan at Los Che for another season at least.

“Liverpool are pushing to seal Giorgi Mamardashvili deal with new contacts with Valencia already scheduled,” Romano wrote on X, formerly Twitter

“One more meeting will take place as agreement is done on €35m fee plus sell-on clause, still negotiating on deal structure. Giorgi would stay at Valencia on loan.”

The 23-year-old is regarded as the perfect long-term successor to current Reds’ No.1 Alisson Becker, who endorsed the Euro 2024 star’s arrival in an interview over the weekend.

Alisson tempted by Liverpool exit

Alisson, 31, admits he was tempted to leave Liverpool for Saudi Arabia but is now determined to remain on Merseyside.

It was revealed by Spanish journalist Hector Gomez last week that the complex arrangement for Mamardashvili was underway between the two sides although certain elements related to wages needed to be smoothed over before the deal could be finalised.

It’s been a quiet transfer window around Anfield with deadline day approaching fast and the Reds yet to sign a senior player.

Deals for Yoro and Zubimendi fizzle out

Interest in Leny Yoro and Martin Zubimendi went nowhere with Yoro opting for Manchester United and Zubimendi sticking with Real Sociedad.

New sporting director Richard Hughes has got plenty on his plate as the futures of Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk need sorting out.

All three are out of contract in 2025 and getting a resolution over new deals - or exits - has been deemed as the sporting director’s priority for the window.

Liverpool have also managed to offload plenty of fringe talent, bringing in good fees for Fabio Carvalho, Sepp van den Berg and Bobby Clark.

Others like Tyler Morton and Stefan Bajcetic could still end up leaving the club before the window closes.
