Liverpool attacking midfielder Fabio Carvalho will have a clearer view of his future at Anfield once he is back from the tour in the USA.

That is according to Football Insider who are stating that the former Fulham man has a chance to show he can make it at Anfield during pre-season.

Carvalho was seen as a must-sign by Liverpool back in the 2021/22 season and they tried their hardest to bring him in on deadline day in the January window.

The deal didn’t go through so instead the club made sure they got their man in the following summer but things haven’t exactly gone to plan since then.

CARVALHO COULD CEMENT SPOT IN THE TEAM

He started well in the 2022/23 season featuring in the first seven games of the Premier League, scoring twice with one of the goals being the memorable winner against Newcastle United.

In the second half of the campaign though he was frozen out with a lack of an out-and-out attacking midfielder used in Jurgen Klopp’s system one of the main reasons why.

A loan to RB Leipzig in the following season was viewed as a very good move for his career but he couldn’t get enough game time in the Bundesliga. Liverpool recalled him, but immediately made plans to send him out again.

After a loan at Hull City which rejuvenated him, scoring nine goals, and a new head coach in Arne Slot he now has it all to play for.

There could now be a space in the starting side for Carvalho, due to the fact Slot prefers to use a No.10 who can interchange with his wide men as well as whoever is up front.

At just 21 years old he has a long road ahead of him but he now needs to make sure that the road is with Liverpool by showing what he can really do.

He will now have three games to make the Liverpool hierarchy and Slot go from undecided to decided in a positive manner regarding his future.

In the attacking midfield role, he is sure to face competition from the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai, Harvey Elliott, Curtis Jones and possibly even youngsters Lewis Koumas and Trey Nyoni.
