Arne Slot CONFIRMS Trent Alexander-Arnold conversation after Real Madrid bid
Real Madrid made an attempt to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold ahead of the opening of the January transfer window.
The Liverpool right-back is out of contract in summer 2025 but Madrid were hoping to get him for a knockdown fee this winter.

However their efforts were rebuffed with the Reds declining to enter into negotiations with their Spanish counterparts.
Madrid may well come back in for the 26-year-old before the February 3 transfer deadline but the numbers involved appear to be far beneath Trent's value.
It was reported that Los Blancos were only prepared to offer €10 million to sign the Englishman this month and would go as high as €15m.
That is not an enticing offer for the Reds, who are seeking glory in the Premier League and Champions League this season and would prefer to keep their best players throughout the entire campaign.
Arne Slot confirms Trent talks
With Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti responding "we will see" when it comes to Trent's future, it has left the situation open.
Real need a right-back to replace Dani Carvajal, who was injured during October, and have been using winger Lucas Vazquez as stop-gap option.
There will be NO bids for any other right-back with Trent the sole player in Real's focus and Liverpool must be prepared for another approach this month.
If Real do not get their man, there is every chance they will open talks with Alexander-Arnold directly ahead of a summer free transfer.
That would be a lucrative deal for Trent, who could expect a hefty signing-on fee and a long contract to take him through his peak years.
'Fully committed' Trent will play Sunday
The question of Madrid's Trent bid was put to Liverpool head coach Arne Slot on Friday morning ahead of the Reds' Premier League game against Manchester United on Sunday.
He confirmed that he has spoken to Trent about the Madrid bid but declined to give much more away.
"I speak to every player once in a while and that is for Trent the same. Yes, I spoke to him," he said.
"I can completely understand the question but I think you already know the answer. These conversations I never share. It was a conversation as many others we have, me and Trent, and let's leave it today.
"If that [bid] destabilises them, then we would have had a problem."
On whether Liverpool would SELL Trent this month, Slot was equally unforthcoming.
"I can tell you he is playing on Sunday," is all he would say. "And hopefully he brings the performances of the first half of the season. You saw how much he wants to be here and wants to win here.
"I see him on the training ground every day working his ass off.
"He is fully committed to us and he will play on Sunday."
