Liverpool transfers: Reds to battle Inter Milan for €30m 'new Pedri'

Liverpool and Italian champions Inter Milan have been named as suitors for the Las Palmas attacker Alberto Moleiro in a new report in Spain.

Moleiro, 20, has enjoyed a breakout campaign in LaLiga for the Canary Islands’ side, scoring two goals and making three assists in 24 league games.

The Tenerife-born attacker is a homegrown Las Palmas player, and first appeared for the first team aged only 17 in the Segunda Division.

His talents previously brought him on the radar of top sides including Liverpool, with it reported last year that the Reds were willing to pay €25 million to sign him

Barcelona are also reported to have previously been in touch over the player described as the new Pedri by the Spanish press, another Las Palmas academy graduate who eventually made his way to Camp Nou.

No deal materialised, however, and Moleiro has since attracted the interest of Villarreal, Real Betis and Inter, as well as Liverpool, according to a report in Saturday’s AS

Moleiro is under contract with Las Palmas until 2026 and is believed to have a €60m release clause in his deal.

However, the Spanish daily reports that any interested parties could pick him up for €30m.

Las Palmas were newly promoted to the Spanish top flight this season with Moleiro playing a crucial role as they got the results they needed to stay away from the threat of relegation.

The Gran Canaria-based side have been on the slide in recent months however, winless in 10 league fixtures and losing all of their last seven.

Despite those recent poor results, Moleiro has been identified by many clubs around Spain and Europe as one to watch.

Moleiro similar to Iniesta

Liverpool are set for a transfer overhaul this summer under new sporting director Richard Hughes and incoming head coach Arne Slot.

The Spain under-21 international could potentially provide an option in a number of different positions for the new managerial team, having featured at left wing and attacking midfield for his club side.

Moleiro is stylistically similar to Andres Iniesta for his tendency to drift towards the left of the attack and dictate games from that sector.
