Liverpool transfers: Boost as Juventus no longer deem Rabiot contract a priority

Adrien Rabiot is one of the most high-profile names on the list of free agents this summer. The 29-year-old Frenchman opted to leave Juventus when his contract expired on June 30.

The Italian giants were stunned by that development as they had made an attempt to renew his deal before he went to the European Championship with France.

Juventus had offered Rabiot a two-year extension worth between €7.5 million and €8m per season, with an option for an added year.

However, while the club expected an answer to their proposal from Rabiot’s mother and agent, Veronique, before the tournament, they were met with stony silence.

Rabiot then admitted during the tournament he was no longer a Juventus player with Tuttosport NOW claiming that Juventus don’t see re-signing Rabiot as a priority task this summer.

Thiago Motta’s side have signed Khephren Thuram and Douglas Luiz with a deal expected for Teun Koopmeiners before the end of the summer.

Tuttosport also names Liverpool, Bayern Munich and AC Milan as contenders for Rabiot’s signature and now that the player’s interest in Euro 2024 is at an end he will now focus on sorting out his future.

Rabiot in demand this summer

Milan are said to be in the process of making an attempt to land the former Paris Saint-Germain star but no decision has yet been taken on Rabiot’s next destination.

The elegant left-footer joined Juve from PSG back in 2019 and has since won a Serie A title and two Italian Cups. He had made more than 200 appearances for the Bianconeri but it suddenly appears that his spell in Turin is at an end.

Although not a classic No.6, Rabiot would no doubt be a shrewd acquisition for the Reds this summer should they pursue a deal.

It’s been claimed however that the France international favours a move to Real Madrid, who are looking for replacements for Toni Kroos and Luka Modric.
