Liverpool have readied a £25m for an 18-year-old Serie A revelation. The Reds aren’t the only club with that idea, however.

Gazzetta Dello Sport reports that Liverpool are one of four clubs to have readied an offer for Dean Huijsen. The 18-year-old defender has caught the eye in 2024 and clubs are now lining up to sign him.

Huijsen is currently at AS Roma on loan from Juventus. He made his debut for the Old Lady late last year but then departed on loan in January.

He's become a fairly regular player for Roma ever since and his performances have caught the eye of teams who believe they could tempt Juve into a sale. Juventus, after all, hope to rebuild this summer - a chunk of cash for a young player will be very tempting.

The report, via Sport Witness, suggests the offers from Liverpool, Newcastle United and two German clubs are around £25m. It's a sizeable amount for a player with under 20 senior appearances but Huijsen may justify it.

Liverpool consider Dean Huijsen bid

Liverpool will almost certainly want a centre-back in the summer. Joel Matip is at the end of his contract, turning 33 and coming off a serious injury - even if he renews his deal, it makes sense to think about a replacement.

Then there's the added consideration of Ruben Amorim, the potential new manager, playing with three centre-backs. Thus Liverpool can almost certainly justify a £25m offer for a young defender they see massive potential in.

Huijsen certainly has that. Not only is he playing for a decent side in Roma but he's also produced some incredible quality at the start of his senior career.

His goal against Frosinone, for instance, was outstanding and instantly grew his reputation.

Doing that at 18 is no small feat from a young defender. If Juventus are willing to sell this year, Liverpool likely can justify the fee - and Huijsen might just be what they're looking for.
