Liverpool have another youngster who has just left a clue on his social media that he could be about to leave the club this summer. 

There could be a major exodus at Liverpool in the coming weeks ahead. Especially within the club's academy ranks, with plenty of young players looking for pastures new.

Most notably, there have been reports that Bobby Clark could depart on a permanent deal to Red Bull Salzburg this summer with former Liverpool assistant, Pep Lijnders, a big admirer of the player.

There's also reports, Liverpool could be open to allowing Ben Doak to leave on a permanent deal as well. Celtic and a couple of Premier League clubs are thought to be interested in him.

But it's not just that duo. There could be another player who has been described as 'very special' who just hinted he could leave the club this summer.

James McConnell Liverpool transfer exit hint?

Last summer, James McConnell had a breakthrough catching Jurgen Klopp's eye in pre-season. This earned him a spot in the Reds' first team squad and saw him feature a handful of times in the first team, most notably in a commendable performance against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final.

His teammate Lewis Koumas even went onto wax lyrical about him to the club's official website last season.

“We had the likes of Bobby [Clark] and Macca [James McConnell] and it was good to get the win. Macca is a very special player and very good to play with," Koumas said.

However, this time around McConnell has not been able to catch Arne Slot's eye in pre-season. Earlier in pre-season, he had suffered an injury which meant he could not feature in any of Liverpool's pre-season games despite travelling to the US tour.

Now, he's posted a cryptic story on his Instagram eerily similar to the one posted by Bobby Clark on his socials amid rumours of his departure.

The story depicts a black and white image of McConnell in action for Liverpool from a game last season with the emoji of an hourglass as the caption.

Many have interpreted this as a hint that McConnell could follow suit of Clark. Anfield Watch understands McConnell has been offered to Barnsley on loan earlier in the season.

A permanent departure can't be ruled out. However, the most likely scenario for McConnell is a loan move. Meanwhile, while it's moot what his Instagram post is a reference to, it's more likely to be hinting at a comeback from his injury rather than a move away from Anfield.
