Liverpool target Luis Guilherme signs new contract with release clause

Liverpool have been tracking teenage Brazilian talent Luis Guilherme, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The 17-year-old attacking midfielder currently plays for Palmeiras, where he has signed a new long-term contract until 2026 – the maximum length of time for an under-18 player allowed by Brazilian law.

According to transfer reporter Romano, Palmeiras as already preparing for the player's sale and have inserted a €55m (£48m) release clause into his new deal.

It is added that Liverpool have been following Guilherme for a 'long time'.

Along with the Reds' interest, Romano claims that Bayern Munich, Chelsea and other 'European top clubs' have been scouting the wonderkid, who can play as an attacking midfielder or winger and is capped at Under-20 level for Brazil.

In other reports, both Real Madrid and Barcelona have been name-checked as possible suitors, as well as Manchester United and West Ham.

Guilherme isn't the only Brazilian youngster of interest to Liverpool.

The Reds saw an enquiry for Fluminense midfielder Andre Trindade knocked back during the summer, but could return with a January bid for the 22-year-old.

Anfield Watch understands that Liverpool remain interested in the midfielder and will be given priority for a winter deal if they choose to pursue his transfer once the Brazilian season finishes.

Andre will star in the Copa Libertadores final for Fluminense against Boca Juniors on 4 November.
