Liverpool transfer news: Reds target signs new deal in Netherlands

Liverpool-linked defender David Hancko has signed a new contract with Feyenoord despite interest from the Reds.

The 26-year-old is one of many left-footed central defenders that has been touted with a potential Anfield switch in recent months, the Slovakia international having impressed in the Eredivisie.

The centre-back, who can also feature at left-back, fits the profile of a Liverpool signing and would be a more cost-effective recruit than the likes of £52m Goncalo Inacio of Sporting CP.

However, if he is to leave Feyenoord in the summer, David Hancko will now cost the Reds more than he previously would have after signing a new deal with the Dutch club on Thursday.

Hancko has extended his stay at De Kuip until 2028 and it remains to be seen if his new deal boasts a release clause of any description.

Liverpool will also have to fend off interest from French champions Paris Saint-Germain, who already have Hancko's Slovakian centre-back partner Milan Skriniar in their squad.

According to the player's agent, Branislav Jasurek, both Liverpool and PSG had been in discussions with the player in the January transfer window, with a sale expected in the summer.

"As an agency, we are in contact not only with these two clubs, but also with others who are looking into David’s situation," he said.

"I estimate that 80-90% David will stay in Rotterdam [in January] because Feyenoord is fighting for the Champions League and the people at Feyenoord know that David Hancko will be sold even in the summer and maybe better than now."

The Reds have also been targeting the Premier League duo of Tosin Adarabioyo and Lloyd Kelly, both of whom will be free agents this summer.

Ousmane Diomande is another name on Liverpool's transfer wishlist, with the club expected to strengthen their backline this coming summer - no matter who is in the dugout post-Jurgen Klopp.
