Liverpool’s interest in Eintracht Frankfurt star Omar Marmoush this season has been well established.

Initial rumours and links last month, particularly based around how the signing of the Egyptian could play into Mo Salah’s ongoing contract talks, accompanied some stunning performances from the player himself.

And the links have only gotten stronger this past week, with BILD reporting that the Reds have officially made contact with the player and his agent about a potential deal.

And the interest will only be getting stronger every time Marmoush steps on the pitch this season. He added another goal and two assists to his tally yesterday as Frankfurt routed bottom-placed side VfL Bochum 7-2 at the Waldstadion.

Marmoush’s involvements were essential to the win itself. Only eight minutes into the game he received a pass on the inside-right forward position, his first touch taking him past the nearest defender, before an inch-perfect pass past two more Bochum players was hammered home by Hugo Ekitike.

The Egyptian then added the second himself, whipping a free kick inside the near post from around 25-yards out on the 18th minute.

Marmoush’s second assist then came to put Frankfurt 6-2 up. He played an intricate one-two with Ekitike, before rolling the ball in to 18-year old Can Yilmaz Uzun who dispatched it for his first ever Frankfurt goal.

This took his total to 12 goals and nine assists in 14 games in all competitions this season.

Is Marmoush suited to Liverpool?

The game also highlighted Marmoush’s versatility. He occupied positions across the attacking line, playing out on the left and the inside right, whilst also creating from a central position.

The performance also reiterated what Bundesliga expert Ronan Murphy told Anfield Watch in an exclusive interview this week. Murphy explained Marmoush’s play style, saying “His close control helps him get past defenders, while his movement is suited to a team who like to penetrate the box early and create chances on the counter.”

This skillset would be ideal for what Liverpool have struggled with in recent weeks. Their inability to counter with any effectiveness or make the ball stick upfront made life difficult for the Reds against Arsenal last weekend.

And whilst Darwin Nuñez performed admirably in that game, the movement of Marmoush could have opened up a stern Arsenal defence much more effectively.

He could be a huge transfer for Liverpool. Someone who could have a transformative impact on Slot's squad.

It seems like Eintracht Frankfurt are open to allowing him to leave with the club's sporting director Markus Krösche insisting no player is not for sale.

“It is true that Omar made a very clear commitment to us in the summer,” Krösche said.

“He has developed well and still has a lot of potential to develop further. For us, we don’t want to lose so many key players.

“I have to honestly say that no Eintracht player is unsellable (but) we want to keep the team together.

“I talk about him (Marmoush) after every game. But that’s a good thing. Omar gives our game an incredible amount.”
