'They definitely like him' - Journalist CONFIRMS Reds move for £43m attacker
There is uncertainty around the futures of several Liverpool first-team attackers. Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota could be cleared out to make way for a better option at No9 and there are no guarantees on the wings either.
Mohamed Salah has thankfully been tied down to a new contract but what about the likes of Luis Diaz and Federico Chiesa?

Diaz, 28, could be made available for transfer as there are no signs of contract talks reaching a satisfactory conclusion. And Chiesa is set for a quickfire return to Serie A after a deeply disappointing season on a personal level.

Plenty of potential incomings have been associated with an Anfield arrival and one name continually on the list is Xavi Simons.
The 21-year-old-Dutchman is not a winger by trade but enjoys drifting to the left side of the attack in order to provide for a frontman or else take chances himself.
Red Bull to cash in on Xavi Simons
Simons, who completed a permanent €50 million (£43m) deal to join RB Leipzig in January, has been touted as a potential summer departure considering his current contract only extends to 2027.
The Red Bulls want to flip a quick profit on the former Paris Saint-Germain playmaker, who has scored 10 goals and provided six assists in 29 club games this season.
He is also a key part of Ronald Koeman’s Dutch national team set-up alongside Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch and Cody Gakpo. And ahead of the transfer window opening, the midfielder has been mentioned by one Liverpool transfer expert as one to watch.
Xavi Simons liked by Liverpool
“Xavi Simons is definitely a player Liverpool like,” says Reds journalist David Lynch on Anfield Index. “100% is on the radar. Whether that becomes something this summer depends a lot on the competition around him where the spots where you can fit him in open up in the squad.
“But if it does and there’s a real possibility for that to happen then I’m pretty sure he’ll be high up on the list, they definitely like him.”

There have been suggestions in the press in recent days of a total Red Bull reset in Leipzig with club bosses including Jurgen Klopp deciding to reduce the wage bill and sell off some of the team’s top stars.
Liverpool have also been linked with Xavi’s teammates Castello Lukeba and Benjamin Sesko.
