Fabrizio Romano CONFIRMS Liverpool contact for exciting €70m star
Fabrizio Romano claims Liverpool have been making calls about an exciting playmaker who is up for sale this summer. But they're not the only ones.
It's set to be an incredible summer for Liverpool. The Reds have a series of moves they want to make and in just about every position.

Goalkeeper will be one interesting one as Giorgi Mamardashvili has already been signed. Caoimhin Kelleher is expected to leave the club but there's also talk that Alisson could depart. Then what?
Centre-back has clear areas under question. Virgil van Dijk's contract expires, while Ibrahima Konate enters the final year of his deal.
Then we've got Jarell Quansah and Joe Gomez wanted elsewhere.
Everyone knows Liverpool want a new left-back, with Milos Kerkez linked heavily. Trent Alexander-Arnold's impending exit almost certainly means a right-back comes in, too.
Then there's striker! The attack is expected to undergo an overhaul and a new no.9 is on the way. We're just waiting to see who Liverpool pick.
There's all of that, then, and perhaps one more.

Liverpool look at Xavi Simons
Liverpool are having a look at Xavi Simons, who's expected to leave RB Leipzig this summer. Fabrizio Romano has shared the details.
“There are movements and my understanding is that for something around let’s say 70 to 75 million Euros [£58-63m], there is a chance to strike a deal for Xavi Simons," Romano said on YouTube.
“Xavi Simons has concrete possibilities of leaving Red Bull Leipzig already in this summer transfer window. It’s not guaranteed, but it’s a concrete possibility.”
“The Premier League is the most concrete possibility. What we can mention is that Premier League clubs were interested one year ago.”
“Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, also Liverpool are well informed on the situation. All of these clubs are calling to be informed.”
“Leipzig seem ready to part ways with the Dutchman to avoid having to pay the add-ons and to actually make a profit from the sale.”
Now, Simons only permanently joined Leipzig this season but it was always thought that they'd bought him off Paris Saint-Germain with every intention to sell for a profit. That should be as soon as this summer.
But Simons' form has also dropped off since that permanent move. Is he still actually worth €70m? That's a lot of money for a player who hasn't really been at his best.
On the other hand, Simons remains one of the most talented 21-year-olds in the game. Liverpool would be mad not to keep tabs on the situation there.
We're not certain that the Reds will have the room to spend that kind of money on an attacking midfielder, though. Not with so many other options taking priority.

If the price drops - or the plan changes - then this could really happen. As things stand, though, we think the timing is all wrong.
