Liverpool have been tipped for a summer transfer overhaul. But in order to get the right players in, we could see several current first-team squad members leave first.

Sporting director Richard Hughes and head coach Arne Slot will have to make decisions over the status of plenty of squad members.

If decent bids are received for the likes of Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez then they could be sold in order to raise funds for arrivals.

There are also question marks over others such as Caoimhin Kelleher, Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez, Jarell Quansah, Kostas Tsimikas, Tyler Morton, Harvey Elliott, Federico Chiesa and Luis Diaz.

Indeed it could be a clearout at Anfield with multiple transfer targets earmarked for arrivals.

Bajcetic an alternative to Endo?

One area of the pitch tipped for a refit is central midfield. We could see Wataru Endo among the departures too, with the 32-year-old linked with Marseille last summer and other teams throughout the season.

And the Reds may have an in-house solution to the gap left by the Japan captain, meaning that any fee received for him could be reinvested elsewhere.

Stefan Bajcetic, 20, has been out on loan for the second half of the season at Las Palmas in LaLiga. He has impressed during his second loan spell of the season, having endured a disappointing spell at Red Bull Salzburg before Christmas.

Bajcetic has also been tipped as a potential sale ahead of the summer but on the statistical analysis conducted by Anfield Index, he could be an intriguing addition to Slot’s squad next season if Endo leaves.

The Spain under-21 international could become a fourth or fifth-choice option in midfield next season, giving Liverpool essentially a “free” upgrade in that area.

And he’s showing STRONG defensive metrics in the Spanish top flight; appearing in the 87th percentile for tackles, the 76th percentile for interceptions and the 99th percentile in blocks according to the analysis.

Bajcetic is also showing good returns in the clearances and aerial duels categories, exemplifying that he could be a No6 in this squad, rather than a passer in the mould of Alexis Mac Allister.

Will Bajcetic come back to Liverpool?

That’s because his passing stats let him down somewhat; he is way down in the eighth percentile for pass completion with an overall rate of 74 percent.

The number of passes he attempts, meanwhile, puts him in the 42nd percentile - a long way off of what’s required for a Liverpool midfielder.

He comes out quite similar to Endo in the stats, but the current Liverpool star has got better passing numbers.

At this stage of his career, given the injuries he’s suffered, Bajcetic needs minutes in a first team and maybe a reserve role wouldn’t suit him best.

A loan move next season could be the best solution, rather than being a back-up or an Endo replacement.

Nonetheless, Hughes and Slot have a decision to make over Bajcetic, who has also attracted transfer interest from LaLiga in the shape of Real Betis and Celta Vigo.

Another loan in order to prepare him for a long-term future at Anfield? A sale to raise funds? Or a squad role to relieve the burden on Ryan Gravenberch? It promises to be a crucial summer in store for Bajcetic.
