Liverpool have been hinting who the club could sign next and it could be a momentous new arrival.

Things have been quiet on the transfer front under Richard Hughes. Liverpool have invested little in the market and have spent the least amount of money since last summer among Premier League clubs.

That's largely because Liverpool already have a well-stocked squad, capable of challenging at any level and Arne Slot's side is proving it at the moment.

But it's also because the club are planning some big changes in the upcoming summer transfer window. Anfield Watch revealed exclusively that there could be some high-profile departures.

And that will mean some big profile arrivals as well.

FSG's dream transfer and Liverpool's social media hints

It's incredible to think that since FSG has taken over as the club's owners, Liverpool are still yet to field a player from the United States.

In the club's history, there have only been two US international players to make an appearance for Liverpool. Brad Friedel and Zak Whitbread. Both of them played for the Reds prior to FSG.

Since FSG have come in there have been some young US players brought into the academy. Marc Pelosi, Villyan Bijev, Matteo Ritaccio and Brooks Lennon were all brought over from the States.

None of them ever came close to making a first team appearance and only one of them in Lennon has ended up playing for the USMNT.

It's clear FSG desire to tap more into their own North American market. You only need to look at Liverpool's pre-season tour of the States this summer.

The club got Saquon Barkley, one of the biggest names in the NFL right now to promote Liverpool's away shirt release. Liverpool also did a series of videos and collaborations with NBA rookie Jared McCain, who is very popular on TikTok with millions of followers.

Harvey Elliott collaborated with another NFL player in Avonte Maddox, with the US star showing off the Reds' new Nike jersey on his Instagram page.

In the summer, Liverpool's social media was littered with these collabs, all with the intention to spread the club's awareness accross the states.

And Liverpool are doing it again.

As the Super Bowl approaches, Liverpool have filmed several videos that they have shared across social media with the Super Bowl hashtag, again opening their eyes towards the North American market. From predicting who will win to American Football challenges and posting celebrations.

And then there was the club posting a picture of LeBron James wearing a Liverpool top ahead of the Lakers' game on Saturday night.

Again, the desire is very clear. Liverpool want to reach a wider audience and increase their reach across North America.

All of these social media posts and collaborations highlight FSG's intentions.

But what would be the ultimate prize for the club's owners is to actually sign a player from the United States, and for that player to have a significant role for the Reds.

And there is already someone on their radar.

Why Everything points towards Antonee Robinson's arrival

Liverpool will be looking to sign a left-back this summer and Antonee Robinson has been heavily linked with a move to the Reds.

This would pretty much be the perfect signing for FSG and exactly the type of signing the club has been hinting that they want to make over the last few months.

Robinson is the current US Soccer Player of the Year. He is an established Premier League player and is a regular for the USMNT, having represented his country at the World Cup as well.

He caught the eye at Anfield earlier this season too with a brilliant performance and was even spotted liking posts about fans asking him to join the club.

Robinson grew up around Merseyside, having represented Everton's academy as a young child, which would make this deal ever sweeter.

He's at the prime of his career, with exactly the type of explosive speed and defensive prowess Arne Slot needs in his system.

Being at the height of his powers means he is also at the height of his popularity and that means he could be the perfect asset for FSG to market Liverpool further.

The club have been hinting towards wanting to make this move and Robinson might just be the most perfect signing to make this momentous transfer in the FSG era for Liverpool.
