Why Liverpool REJECTED offer of last-minute transfer
Liverpool reportedly rejected the chance of a last-minute deadline-day deal. Here's why they did so.
Liverpool transfer news today: Agent CONFIRMS offer as wonderkid deal moves closer
A quiet January transfer window for Liverpool, then. The Reds opted to make zero real changes to their squad at all, leaving Arne Slot with largely the same group of players he kicked off the campaign with.

Of course, that was a similar story back in the summer. Federico Chiesa remains the only first-team arrival for the season - this is, essentially, Jurgen Klopp's squad still.
And that's not to say Liverpool didn't have chances to make moves. There was an offer for Trent Alexander-Arnold to kick-off the January window, while Al-Hilal attempted to snap-up Darwin Nunez for £70m.
The Reds rejected all of that, though.
Any major sales would almost certainly have brought about major signings. Instead, Liverpool got for consistency and a settled squad once again.
In fact, Liverpool are so particular with transfers that they even rejected a late offer for a player they never even use.
Tyler Morton and Middlesbrough
Middlesbrough, who currently have Ben Doak on loan, tried to sign Tyler Morton on deadline day. They approached Liverpool with an offer that, per Paul Joyce, could have climbed 'significantly' above £10m with add-ons.
Liverpool rejected that offer, however. Nizaar Kinsella reports that Boro ultimately pulled out of a deal because the Reds' asking price was far too high.
And maybe that's no great shock. The Reds wanted £20m for Morton in the summer and even though he's barely featured, it's unlikely that they've reduced that asking price by much.
The question now, though, is what does this mean for Morton? There's a sense that James McConnell might be preferred in the middle of the park under Slot.
If that's the case, Morton is set to get even fewer appearances over the next four months than he's had thus far. And that's certainly not going to make it easier to get £20m for him next summer.

Time will tell if Liverpool were right to reject that Boro offer. It's just difficult to see how the summer window brings anything different.
