Furthermore, there is a chance of glory to come in the EFL Cup with the Merseysiders already through to the semi-finals, where they will face Tottenham.

The real magic in all of this is that Slot has managed to do it with largely the same squad of players as last season. Only Federico Chiesa was added during the summer transfer window with Giorgi Mamardashvili coming back from his Valencia loan next summer.

However, Slot has seen fit to integrate some youth products into his matchday squads with players like Trey Nyoni and Rio Ngumoha joining in with those like Conor Bradley and Jarell Quansah who have already made the step up.

Another youth team prospect afforded his chance with the first team this season has been Tyler Morton. However, it’s fair to say things haven’t yet gone to plan for the midfielder.

Morton's disappointing season

Having made his debut under Jurgen Klopp during the 2021/22 season, the 22-year-old has since been on loan at Blackburn Rovers and Hull City.

Liverpool entertained bids for Morton during the summer - with illustrious clubs such as Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzig and Eintracht Frankfurt all reckoned to be keen. However, no team came close to matching Liverpool’s asking price, reported to be around £20m.

But Morton’s quest for first-team football hasn’t borne fruit as yet, appearing only THREE times under Arne Slot and all those appearances coming in the EFL Cup.

Accordingly it’s been speculated that Liverpool could well entertain loan bids for the Wallasey-born No.6 in January in order to facilitate more first-team football. And one of those clubs now known to be interested are Hull City.

Tyler Morton back to Hull City?

The Championship side are desperate to stave off relegation to League One having only just recently snapped a 13-game winless run to get themselves off the foot of the table.

They sit just outside the relegation zone with new coach Ruben Selles making it clear what his side need to compete for the rest of the season. The Spaniard is demanding a smaller squad, according to the Hull Daily Mail, and wants FOUR reinforcements in the January window.

Hull have earmarked Morton as one of their potential arrivals having watched him flourish at the MKM Stadium on loan last season. He played 41 times last term, making his name as one of the most dynamic midfielders in the Championship.

However, Hull have acknowledged that should Liverpool allow him to leave on loan then there will be plenty of suitors clamouring for his signature.

"Tyler Morton is a player the Tigers would love to have back, but it's likely he'll be coveted by clubs further up the food chain if Liverpool allowed him to leave," the report states.
