How Real Madrid are REALLY feeling about Trent Alexander-Arnold
Liverpool’s contract situation is proving a difficult one for Reds all around the world to keep contending with.
There appears to be some movement on a few fronts. Mo Salah made his own headlines and it was suggested he was trying to force the Liverpool higher-ups into a decision.

Here at Anfield Watch we have reported that Virgil van Dijk has an agreement with the club that needs to be signed.
But the Trent Alexander-Arnold front is keeping alarmingly quiet about his future.
If he were to leave, it has been well established that Real Madrid would be the destination. The Spanish giants have been keen on him for some time and their defensive situation, in which Dani Carvajal’s ACL tear has left them without a fit, recognised full-back.
In their ‘Transfer DealSheet’, The Athletic are reporting that Madrid are feeling optimistic about the move but that there might be some hitches.
Real Madrid's Alexander-Arnold optimism
“There is some optimism among those connected to the Spanish club about his arrival, which would lessen the potential for more serious moves in January” they write, “although multiple sources have told The Athletic that the Englishman moving from Liverpool next month seems unfeasible.”
This presents another interesting best-of-both-worlds distinction. It can’t be possible that Madrid are hearing good things, enough to feel optimistic, whilst sources are also suggesting that a move for Trent would be ‘unfeasible’.
The two don’t line up. This points to the argument that Alexander-Arnold may still be weighing up his options and seeing which offer ends up being best for his career.
He spent a bit of time on the sidelines in November and Conor Bradley made a serious name for himself with Madrid themselves visited Anfield. Bradley dealt with superstar Kylian Mbappe all evening and provided a viral slide tackle that dispossessed Mbappe of the ball.
That night simultaneously proved and dented Alexander-Arnold’s worth. It was clear there that Liverpool didn’t 100% need him to be successful, but Madrid could have used his ability to play an out ball.
And against Tottenham at the weekend he was, as he so often is, completely untouchable. Spurs couldn’t do anything to step his inch-perfect crosses as Liverpool ran out 6-3 winners.
His future remains entirely uncertain. But what is known is he will be able to sign a pre-agreement with Madrid in just five days time.
