Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid IMMINENT after latest updates

What’s going on with Trent Alexander-Arnold? It’s international week so anything you read might need to be taken with a pinch of salt. But there is no denying the surge in stories in recent days concerning Trent and Real Madrid.

Firstly, and quietly, in an item from Marca discussing a possible Real Madrid move for Manuel Akanji, it was claimed that the No66 has once again denied Liverpool a contract renewal.

"Liverpool, by the way, has once again been denied a contract renewal by the (now injured) full-back,” the report read. “The Englishman's decision was made a long time ago, and nothing will change his mind. His commitment to Real Madrid is confirmed.”

That seems pretty definitive but remember the Spanish press have been a bit all over the place on Trent in recent weeks.

After the injury he suffered against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, it was speculated that Madrid could be turned off the idea of signing the right-back.

And even before that, amid Real Madrid’s refereeing drama, Spanish reports claimed that Trent could decline a move to the Bernabeu due to a perceived bias against Madrid from matchday officials.

Hmm. If that was the case then nobody told Julian Alvarez.

Trent to Madrid a matter of time

Anyway, back to the matter at hand.

This week kicked off with a news report from Sky Sports in Switzerland saying Trent to Madrid was in effect a done deal. This is a source independent from Marca, remember, so now there appear to be reports of a breakthrough on two fronts.

Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid, it's settled!” the report says.

“The English right-back's agents, including his brother, have finally reached an agreement with the Merengues on personal terms. This agreement is expected to last five seasons, starting July 1st.

“The Spanish offer could be around fifteen million euros gross per season, with attractive performance bonuses as well as a signing bonus "equivalent to a reasonable transfer fee," according to our sources.

“An agreement in principle was reached in recent weeks and, despite Liverpool's repeated attempts to reopen negotiations, the hope of extending his contract on the banks of the Mersey has faded.”

And once again, there is the reference to Liverpool failing with a new renewal attempt. Then the cascade began; Relevo in Spain, Sky Sport in Germany, and talkSPORT all seemingly confirming the same thing.

Last-minute reprieve possible?

Liverpool fans are up in arms across social media, invariably expressing unflattering opinions towards Trent and his agency, which includes his brother.

There is a legitimate fear that this deal has been done in darkness, that Trent’s Liverpool career is all but over.

The chances are Madrid are preparing the ground for a bombshell announcement. When that comes, it can only be speculated upon.

Remember, last year, Kylian Mbappe didn’t confirm his move to Madrid until May. Trent could well be waiting for Liverpool to be confirmed champions or else for the end of the season proper.

There is still a Premier League title to be disputed and nothing - not even Trent’s departure - should distract from the job at hand.

Time will tell what the future holds for Trent and for Liverpool. We have lost good players before and bounced back. And in Conor Bradley we have another homegrown hero ready to get in the slot.

Here’s hoping there might be a last-ditch reprieve and Liverpool end up re-signing the England international in favour of him joining Madrid.

That could well be hope against hope, however, with plenty of signs in the last few days that Madrid have reached a crucial breakthrough.
