EXCLUSIVE: High profile exits on the cards in summer overhaul

As the prospect of life after Alexander-Arnold looms, Arne Slot and Richard Hughes will be assessing the options available to replace the 26-year-old.

Although that task is much easier said than done, one potential target may have just opened the door to an Anfield move, and Liverpool could pounce.

Gusto opens door to Liverpool move

According to a report from Caught Offside, Liverpool could benefit from a situation unfolding in West London.

Chelsea’s right-back, Malo Gusto, has reportedly changed his agent in recent days, and this comes after reported interest from Liverpool stretching back to before the New Year.

This could open the door for the 21-year-old Frenchman to swap Stamford Bridge for Anfield and link up with Slot.

Gusto is currently valued at €32 million by Football Transfers but Chelsea would likely demand a much higher fee, especially when selling to a direct rival.

Would Gusto be a good fit at Liverpool?

The Frenchman has been one of the most exciting prospects in the Premier League in his position for a while now.

Although Chelsea’s title challenge has petered out in recent weeks, Gusto has become a regular in the absence of Reece James and is showing plenty of potential.

Known for his passing but also a great tackler, Gusto could be moulded into the perfect replacement were Alexander-Arnold to depart Merseyside.

Slot’s demands for his fullbacks differ to the way Trent had become accustomed to playing under Jurgen Klopp, and Gusto’s defensive prowess means he could develop into the perfect fullback for Slot.

A deal will be by no means easy to reach, but Gusto’s change in agent could make things a bit easier for Richard Hughes, and the Frenchman could well be plying his trade with a Liverbird on his chest next season.
