Liverpool transfer news today: Van Dijk's future, Alisson in talks, Chiesa available
Here’s all the latest Liverpool transfer news as the Reds get closer to making some massive decisions. Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker have their futures in doubt - will they be at Anfield next season?
Van Dijk puts future into doubt
Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has thrown his future into doubt with surprise comments after the Netherlands lost to England at Euro 2024.
Virgil van Dijk suffered a massive blow on Wednesday as his Netherlands team lost 2-1 to England at Euro 2024. It's a defeat that clearly struck the Dutch captain - he was one game away from leading his country out in a final.
It's enough that Van Dijk wants to assess his future in football. That includes figuring out his Liverpool future, which is suddenly very unclear.
Alisson agents in Saudi talks
Saudi Pro League giants Al-Nassr have identified Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker as their No.1 transfer target this summer and have held talks with the player’s entourage over a summer deal.
That’s according to Rudy Galetti of Teamtalk, who claims that discussions with Alisson are taking place ‘in parallel’ to conversations with representatives of Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s team are determined to land a world class goalkeeper during this transfer window with Alisson their first choice and Ederson as their alternative.
Chiesa available once again
Liverpool will get their chance to sign a winger they’ve chased for some time this summer. Will they take that chance, though?
Teamtalk reports that Federico Chiesa will be offered to 'Premier League clubs' this summer - though, there's no suggestion of who exactly that is. Chiesa's agent is searching for a big payday for his client and feels he can find it in England.
Chiesa is on the move, it seems, with new Juventus manager Thiago Motta willing to let him leave. Offers from AS Roma and Napoli haven't been what they're after. Nowhere near, in fact.
Reds must make Olmo decision
Liverpool will make their decision on Dani Olmo in the next few days as the deadline for the player draws near.
The Mirror reports that Liverpool must make their ultimate decision on Dani Olmo within the next few days. The Spaniard is widely tipped to leave RB Leipzig this summer.
And that's largely because of a release clause in his contract. Olmo can leave for around £50m, with Leipzig unable to stop a transfer. That clause, however, expires 'next Monday' and the price will climb dramatically after that.
Liverpool like Wolves star
Liverpool ‘really like’ Wolves star Joao Gomes although a central midfielder is NOT believed to be high on the list of transfer priorities at Anfield this summer.
That’s according to renowned transfer journalist Ben Jacobs, who claims it’s more likely that a central defender or a winger arrives on Merseyside during this window.
Gomes, 23, started all four of Brazil’s matches at the Copa America having broken into the squad earlier this year and now boasts 10 caps overall.
