Liverpool Transfer News Today: RECORD Neto fee, De Zerbi INTEREST & Salah EXIT
We're still some distance away from the next transfer window but that hasn't stopped the rumour mill from spinning.
Liverpool have a huge summer ahead as they prepare for life with a new sporting director and no Jurgen Klopp in the dugout, so they simply must get their transfer business right.
Here is your transfer news from Friday 16 February, including updates on Pedro Neto, Roberto De Zerbi and the future of Mohamed Salah.
WOLVES WANT RECORD FEE FOR PEDRO NETO
Wolverhampton Wanderers are expecting a club record transfer fee for their Portuguese winger Pedro Neto should he leave the Midlands side this summer, with Liverpool among those interested in the attacker.
Neto has been in sensational form again this season, although injuries continue to hinder his development at Molineux, and the 23-year-old would be a natural fit at Anfield.
According to the Standard, interest in Neto from the Premier League's big clubs is high, with Arsenal and Tottenham both named as admirers, as well as Liverpool.
However, Wolves would expect more than the £53m they received for Matheus Nunes from Manchester City last summer, with the touted fee for Neto being around £60m.
BRIGHTON PREPARE FOR ROBERTO DE ZERBI EXIT
Brighton are now preparing themselves for manager De Zerbi leaving the Amex Stadium this summer amid interest from Liverpool and other top clubs.
With Klopp stepping aside at the end of the season, Liverpool need to line up his replacement as soon as humanly possible, with De Zerbi one of the club's targets.
The Daily Mail reports that Brighton are now making contingency plans in case Roberto De Zerbi leaves at the end of the season.
However, Liverpool are not alone in admiring De Zerbi, with Manchester United and Barcelona clubs that the Italian coach has been linked with in the past.
Xabi Alonso remains Liverpool's priority successor to Klopp, although Bayern Munich and Barcelona will be sniffing around the current Bayer Leverkusen boss.
MOHAMED SALAH ON PSG WISHLIST THIS SUMMER
Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah is one of Paris Saint-Germain's targets when Kylian Mbappe leaves the French champions at the end of the season.
Salah has been in terrific form for the Reds again this season and will naturally be the subject of interest over the summer, especially from the Saudi Pro League.
However, according to L'Equipe, Salah is of interest to PSG after Mbappe communicated his desire to leave Paris for free at the end of the campaign.
Anfield Watch understands that Salah is open to signing a new contract with Liverpool, but uncertainty regarding the club's future post-Klopp could influence the Egyptian's decision on his future.
BUNDESLIGA STAR WITH £43M RELEASE CLAUSE LINKED
Liverpool are one of a number of clubs monitoring RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, the striker boasting a £43m release clause in his current deal with the German side.
According to Bild, Liverpool are one of the clubs "keeping an eye" on the exciting Sesko this summer, but, rather unsurprisingly, the attacker is also being monitored by Arsenal and Manchester City in the Premier League.
Milan and Barcelona are also touted with an interest in the 20-year-old, who has shone for Slovenia and Leipzig in recent months.
Liverpool have done business with Leipzig before, including the signings of Ibrahima Konate and most recently Dominik Szoboszlai, and Sesko could be a great value option at just £43m.
However, it remains to be seen how interested Liverpool genuinely are in Sesko, with the club's summer transfer plans hugely dependent on the new sporting director and, most importantly, head coach.
