Here is all your latest Liverpool transfer news today (Sunday 8 September). The Reds have once again been linked with Jonathan Tah, Adrien Rabiot's wage demands have been revealed and Arne Slot wants a Real Madrid star.

Jonathan Tah Linked

Having already been linked to young Brazilian prospect Vitor Reis from Palmeiras, another report suggests that Liverpool are in for a more experienced defender.

Christian Falk for CaughtOffside has reported that fans should ‘keep an eye’ on Bayer Leverkusen centre-half Jonathan Tah. The 28-year-old was heavily linked to Bayern Munich in the summer, but the giants did not meet his valuation.

The German defender has already been linked with Liverpool before, during an injury crisis for the Reds last year.

Falk then speaks of his connection to the Reds, saying: “In the far-flung future, they will need a successor for Virgil van Dijk. Jonathan Tah could be that for Liverpool. They are also on the table at this time.”

Serie A midfielder reveals Liverpool interest

Liverpool's search for a number six, which ended in frustration with Martin Zubimendi's decision to stay with boyhood club Real Sociedad, reportedly also pulled Genoa's defensive midfielder Morten Frendrup into its scope.

Frendrup has been speaking about the speculation for the first time, while on international duty with Denmark this week.

The 23-year-old told Tipsbladet“It is clear that it [Liverpool] is a huge club, but there is a long way from concrete interest.”

“For me, it's about doing it as well as possible. My agent has to take care of everything else.”

Frendrup insists he's enjoying life in Italy, having joined Genoa from Danish club Brondby during the January transfer window of 2021/22.

Rabiot's wage demands

Rabiot walked away from Juventus upon the expiry of his contract, having played 35 times for the Italian giants last campaign.

He remains without a club beyond the beginning of the domestic campaign, and a big reason for that could be down to his extortionate wage demands.

The 29-year-old wants a €40 million package over the next three seasons, which would make him Liverpool's second-highest paid player, earning more than the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alisson Becker.

Rabiot seemed like a smart coup on a free transfer with European and international pedigree, but it's safe to say with demands that high, he'll be lucky to find a suitor in Europe, which is his preference as he seeks Champions League football.

The German U21 international featured heavily for Mainz in the Bundesliga last season, scoring and providing an assist in their 3-1 win over Wolfsburg to secure their top-flight safety.

Writing for Fabrizio Romano’s daily briefing, Christian Falk has confirmed that Liverpool were interested in Gruda but that the club never got ‘concrete’ with their interest.

Falk also revealed that Liverpool were the only of the Premier League’s top sides that were interested in Gruda, but that there was plenty of interest from other sides in the league.

One of the most persistent links comes in the form of Real Madrid superstar Rodrygo Goes.

With Real having signed Endrick and Kylian Mbappe, it could mean Rodrygo ends up being squeezed out of the first-team picture at the Bernabeu.

With Jude Bellingham being struck down with injury early in the campaign, it means Carlo Ancelotti has been able to kick that potential problem down the road.

Rodrygo was reported to be unhappy at the situation developing in the Spanish capital during the summer and the player’s official WhatsApp channel expressed dissatisfaction a couple of weeks ago at suggestions that Real’s new front three would comprise Bellingham, Mbappe and Vinicius [BMV].
