Liverpool transfer news today: Nico Gonzalez WANTED as Reds get Joao Pedro GREEN LIGHT
Here's all your transfer news for Tuesday, 24 December.
EXCLUSIVE: Liverpool ALL IN on Nico Gonzalez
Sources close to the club have revealed to Anfield Watch that Liverpool scouts have been completely blown away by the performances of Porto midfielder, Nico Gonzalez.
Liverpool's scouts have visited Porto frequently this season and while many have assumed they had travelled there to observe the performances of Alan Varela, it's actually Gonzalez who has caught the Reds' attention.
The 22-year-old midfielder has been in great form and has stood out for his brilliant technical ability combined with his physical prowess, including his ability to press forward effectively from midfield.
Joao Pedro GREEN LIGHT
Joao Pedro is interested in a move away from Brighton if it is to one of the Premier Leagueâs top sides. And you donât get more top than, well, literally top.
Knowing that the move would fit the desires of the player himself is half the work done to get him to Anfield. The rest relies on the technicalities.
A report in Football Insider does state that Brighton are expected to demand at least ÂŁ60m for Pedroâs signature - which would represent a doubling of the money they invested in the player last summer.
The side arenât keen to let their star striker go in January; which team wants to part with a key player midseason really?
But Brighton are always a side willing to do business if there is enough in it for them.
BROKEN Zubimendi promises
Liverpool are still interested in securing Martin Zubimendiâs services.
And a new interview with Real Sociedad President Jokin Aperribay has just made that one step closer to happening.
After rejecting Liverpoolâs offer, rumours emerged that Sociedad had promised Zubimendi a new contract, almost certainly with an increased salary. But Aperribay suggests this wasnât the case.
âThere have been no conversations with Zubimendi to renew his contract,â Aperribay said in an interview with Noticias de Gipuzkoa.
âThere has not been now and there has not been before. He did not put any conditions on us."
Ornstein outlines Omar Marmoush plan
Liverpoolâs interest in Omar Marmoush has been well founded of late. A dynamic forward, Marmoush seems to be exactly the type of player that Liverpool could do with at this present time.
And on The Athleticâs âThe biggest transfers of 2025, analysedâ video, David Ornstein has suggested a fee for the Eintracht Frankfurt forward would be âin the region of âŹ40m-50 millionâ.
The price for Marmoush is ever-increasing. It was quoted at around ÂŁ25m earlier in the season, before rising to a rumour of âŹ40m just last month.
Now it could be up to âŹ50m and if he keeps performing the way he does, donât be surprised if weâre looking at even more than that. But for a performer of this standard that is the type of money you have to pay.
Romano confirms Cherki interest
There's one exciting wonderkid who Liverpool can sign as early as the January window and Fabrizio Romano has just confirmed the Reds are interested in him.
Rayan Cherki is one name who has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool recently. The special French wonderkid is reportedly ready to make the move away from Lyon and the Reds have been long-term admirers of the youngster.
The 21-year-old already has 12 goal contributions in all competitions for Lyon and has been showcasing just why he was once regarded as the next big thing to come out of France after Kylian Mbappe.
It's clear that there is a lot to admire and now Fabrizio Romano himself has confirmed on his YouTube channel that Liverpool are indeed interested in Cherki.
