Liverpool transfer news today: Trio to STAY, major Gordon UPDATE & Endo WANTED by English side
Here is all the latest Liverpool transfer news. The window is about to heat up for the Reds, with major updates on Anthony Gordon, Wataru Endo and a trio of players out of contract soon.
CRUCIAL LIVERPOOL TRIO WANT TO STAY
Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah want to STAY at Liverpool amid rumours about their respective futures.
That is according to CaughtOffside who have revealed the trio are looking likely to remain at Liverpool. They have all been linked with a move away from Anfield due to the fact they're all in the last year of their contracts.
With the Reds the only club yet to sign any players in the top five European leagues there was reportedly a focus from sporting director Richard Hughes on renewing contracts.
The report states that no agreements have been made with any of the three star players but they are willing to stay beyond their contracts.
This will be a big boost for new head coach Arne Slot who knows he can rely on the trio who were so important to the Jurgen Klopp era.
ANTHONY GORDON TRANSFER LOOKS LIKELY
Journalist Mark Ogden has revealed that he believes Newcastle will strike a deal that allows Anthony Gordon to leave the club and come to Liverpool this summer.
There has been plenty of links surrounding the player which first started a few weeks ago as Newcastle offered him to Liverpool when they needed to sell.
That was due to PSR reasons but they asked for Jarell Quansah in return so therefore the deal got rejected.
Speaking to ESPN, Ogden explained why a deal could very much still be on the cards.
"Anthony Gordon is a player that Liverpool like and I think that deal might happen before the window closes at the end of August," claimed Ogden.
"Well, Newcastle would get the money to come in and add to the squad in terms of signing players. Newcastle, like a lot of clubs, are not struggling with PSR but they need to move people around."
WEST HAM TARGET REDS MIDFIELDER
Liverpool midfielder Wataru Endo is on the wishlist of Premier League side West Ham United.
That is according to The West Ham Way who have stated that Julen Lopetegui is after some more midfielders as he shapes together his new side.
According to the report, West Ham sporting director Tim Steidten is a fan of the Japanese midfielder. This is because Steidten used to work in Germany when Endo was at Stuttgart and he seemingly caught his eye.
Another reason why West Ham could favour targeting the 31-year-old over other midfield targets is due to owner David Sullivan. He apparently wants to sign an Asian player for marketability purposes.
LIVERPOOL WILLING TO COMPROMISE ON JOE GOMEZ FEE
Liverpool are willing to 'compromise' on the price tag they have set for key defender Joe Gomez this summer, according to one journalist.
Previous reports have suggested that Gomez would be open to an Anfield exit before the transfer window closes, even if he's not interested in forcing a move elsewhere.
It's been reported that Liverpool value Gomez at £45m. However, one journalist believes that they would perhaps be willing to lower that price tag.
According to Liverpool reporter David Lynch, the Reds are not against selling Gomez this summer and would perhaps be willing to compromise on the fee they receive for the Englishman due to his loyal years of service on Merseyside.
Writing about Gomez's future, Lynch stated (via Anfield Sector): "Liverpool are understood to be prepared to compromise to some degree on the fee for Joe Gomez given his years of service.
"He won't be given away, so the ball is firmly in the court of suitors."
LIVERPOOL SET TO ACCELERATE TRANSFER BUSINESS
Liverpool are set to 'accelerate' their transfer business in the coming weeks, submitting their 'first concrete bids' for targets over the next ten days.
Liverpool are yet to sign any first-team players and the lack of transfer activity has understandably proved frustrating for supporters ahead of Arne Slot's debut campaign.
However, according to The Independent, the Reds will step up their business over the next week-and-a-half as the 2024/25 Premier League season draws closer.
Writing for the outlet, journalist Miguel Delaney stated: "If the squad have now had the chance to get a feel for their new boss, their new boss has had more than enough time to get a feel for the squad.
"In short, Slot now has more of a handle on what he wants, and what he needs.
"The belief around the Liverpool camp is that transfer business will finally accelerate next week, as the opening Premier League game away to Ipswich Town on 17 August comes into view. The next 10 days are likely to see the first concrete bids put in."
