Liverpool transfer news today: Salah contract BOMBSHELL, injuries force FSG's hand
Here's all your Liverpool transfer news for December 1st 2024.
Injured star RETURNS amidst transfer interest
Arne Slot has some difficult squad decisions coming up. Liverpool have welcomed back one star for the busy Christmas period, though.
DaveOCKOP reports that Federico Chiesa is back in full training with Liverpool. The Italian has barely featured this season since joining the Reds at the end of August.
His return will spark new rumours about his future at the club, given recent links to a return to Italy won't go away - and if he is fit and Slot decides he doesn't need him, Liverpool could cut their losses.
Mo Salah contract BOMBSHELL as talks with rival club confirmed
Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah is just a few weeks away from being able to sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club, as his contract is set to expire at the end of the season.
Rumours have long been swirling around potential destinations for Salah, with a move to Saudi Arabia a possibility as well as a number of clubs in Europe.
Now reports have emerged of talks between Salah and a big European club.
Arne Slot CONFIRMS extent of Bradley and Konate injury DAMAGE
Life at Liverpool has been one perfect dream for Arne Slot, at least on the surface. His side are top of the Premier League and Champions League and are the best team in Europe on current form.
And they've been doing it while managing a number of injuries to key players.
Caoimhin Kelleher has hand to stand in for Alisson and has performed admirably. Harvey Elliott has missed most of the season and we're yet to see much of Federico Chiesa at all.
It's in defence where the worst injuries have occurred - and the most recent update from Slot means Liverpool may be forced to enter the transfer market for a defender in January.
Liverpool star forward ready to QUIT after disappointing contract offer
Liverpool have got a number of contract issues to sort and they need to do so pretty fast.
Mohamed Salah rocked the world of football last week by revealing that the Reds STILL hadn’t formalised an offer over a new deal, leading to increased speculation that he could be destined to depart once his current terms expire in 2025.
The future of Trent Alexander-Arnold, meanwhile, looks increasingly uncertain amid reports of Real Madrid’s interest. He too is out of contract at the end of the season.
Helpfully for the Reds it appears the renewal of captain Virgil van Dijk looks all but a formality. The 33-year-old Dutchman is now set to pledge his future to Arne Slot’s side.
Beyond the big three who are all out of contract next summer however there are further problems for sporting director Richard Hughes to consider.
Newcastle-linked defender given HUGE boost
Liverpool got some awful news ahead of their clash with Manchester City, with the confirmed absence of Kontate.
It meant that Joe Gomez was thrust back into the spotlight with a start at centre back against Pep Guardiola's side, where he performed admirably alongside Virgil van Dijk.
Liverpool even tried to sell Gomez in the summer, agreeing a deal with Newcastle United in order to sign Anthony Gordon. Now they're relying on him to save their incredible season.
Mo Salah IGNITES feud with Jamie Carragher after SELFISH jibe
Mo Salah put on a player of the match performance against Manchester City on Sunday, less than a week after he stirred up criticism for speaking to the press about Liverpool not yet offering him a new contract.
The most notorious of this criticism came from club legend Jamie Carragher, who referred to the Egyptian as "selfish" on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football.
But, in being presented the player of the match award after the Manchester City game live on Sky Sports, Virgil van Dijk quipped: "I'm surprised Carra didn't give it to you," after hearing it was Gary Neville who gave Salah the award.
"He wouldn't give it to me!" Salah joked back.
And on cutting back to the Sky studio, when pressed about it, Carragher replied: "I'll see him in the car park!"
