With the final few days of the January transfer window upon us, Liverpool are not expected to make any signings this winter.

However, the Reds are expected to be busy in the summer, with a number of players being touted with moves to Anfield - even if it's unclear who the next Liverpool manager will be at present following Jurgen Klopp's announcement.

With plenty of rumours swirling around, here is your latest Liverpool transfer news from Monday 29 January.

MAN UTD COMPETING FOR EXCITING LIVERPOOL TARGET

Manchester United have entered the race to sign Liverpool transfer target and exciting youngster Bilal El Khannouss, with the 19-year-old having impressed during his time with Belgian side Genk.

An attacking midfielder capable of playing as a No. 8 or in advanced wide positions, El Khannouss has understandably caught the eye of Europe's elite, with FootballTransfers reporting that Man Utd have joined Liverpool in the race for the Morocco international.

Liverpool have scouted the prodigy and even invited his agents to discuss terms with the club, according to some reports. However, Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen and Spanish side Atletico Madrid are also keen on his signature, alongside Liverpool's rivals Man Utd.

The midfielder is expected to cost somewhere between £21m to £26m.

GONCALO INACIO STILL BEING PURSUED BY THE REDS

Liverpool are still interested in signing Sporting CP's Goncalo Inacio, with the Portuguese side set to sell their star defender this summer.

A name that has been regularly touted with a move to Anfield, the centre-back has thoroughly impressed in Portugal.

According to Record (via Sport Witness), despite Liverpool not making a move for Inacio this January, they are still keen on signing the 22-year-old - who has a £52m release clause in his current deal.

Sporting have been unwilling to negotiate with any club for Inacio and their other stars this winter as they eye only a second league title in the past two decades, but are expected to cash in on the defender this summer.

JURGEN KLOPP TO BARCELONA RUMOURS DISMISSED

Speculative rumours linking Barcelona with a sensational move for Jurgen Klopp have been dismissed by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

A piece in Catalan outlet SPORT suggested that Klopp's links to Spain through a villa he owns in Majorca could bring him 'closer' to a move to Barcelona, while club president Joan Laporta is known to be a fan of the German.

However, Romano has played down links to Barcelona, suggesting there is nothing in the rumours to doubt Klopp's own statements about his next steps.

"Klopp has been very clear that he wants to stop for one season so I think it would be more than complicated for Barca or anyone else to hire him for next season. As of today, my understanding is there’s nothing going on on that front."

Barcelona are also in the hunt for a new manager after Xavi announced that he will leave the Spanish giants in the coming summer.

XABI ALONSO TO LIVERPOOL IS NOT GUARANTEED

Spanish journalist Guillem Balague has insisted that Xabi Alonso replacing Jurgen Klopp is 'no done deal' amid frequent reports linking the former Liverpool midfielder with a return to Anfield.

Unsurprisingly, former Liverpool star and current Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso is the favourite to replace Klopp as he continues to do an incredible job with the German side.

Writing for BBC Sport, Balague stated: "Liverpool are not the only club casting an avaricious eye over the man who is currently one of the hottest managerial properties.

"Real Madrid, Bayern Munich (both of whom he also played for with great distinction) and even Manchester City where Pep Guardiola might not extend his stay past the end of next season, will also be looking closely at the situation.

"And despite bookmakers offering miserly odds which make it look like it is a done deal, it is anything but - and the only certainty is that, ultimately, the decision will be Alonso's alone."

CALVIN RAMSAY SECURES LOAN SWITCH

Calvin Ramsay has joined Bolton Wanderers on loan for the second half of the 2023/24 season after his loan with Preston North End was cut short.

Ramsay was sent on loan to Championship side Preston North End last summer, but was the victim of bad luck in terms of injuries, only featuring twice for the club.

The 20-year-old saw his loan cut short despite regaining his fitness and has now been sent to develop at League One side Bolton for the remainder of the campaign.

Liverpool's decision to trust Wanderers with the youngster may have been influenced by the impressive loan spell that Conor Bradley enjoyed at the Toughsheet Community Stadium.

If he can stay fit, Ramsay is likely to be a guaranteed starter for the third tier side as they fight for promotion, currently sat just two points off league leaders Portsmouth.
