The Reds supposedly see Mamardashvili as a long-term successor to Alisson Becker, which makes this a particularly interesting transfer. For one, Alisson isn't going anywhere just yet.

Liverpool transfer target Giorgi Mamardashvili turned down a move to Chelsea this summer, Anfield Watch understands.

The Valencia shot-stopper caught the eye with his exploits between the sticks for Georgia during Euro 2024. He made an astonishing 11 saves in the 1-1 draw with Czechia, facing shots with an Expected Goals on Target total of four.

These performances didn’t go under the radar and Chelsea moved swiftly in an attempt to make him the latest goalkeeper to move to Stamford Bridge.

Zubimendi causing problems

Martin Zubimendi is reportedly causing real problems for Real Sociedad just days after he rejected a move to Liverpool.

The Times claims that Real Sociedad have a problem on their hands after convincing Martin Zubimendi to reject Liverpool and remain with his boyhood club. The Basque side did all they could to keep their midfielder - a process that eventually worked.

But a part of that process was promising Zubimendi that he'd be the highest-earning player at the club with a brand new contract. They're now in talks with him over that contract and things aren't going to plan.

A major European side are preparing to increase their offer for a Liverpool player who has been at the club for five years and featured heavily throughout pre-season for Arne Slot.

According to a report from Football Insider, sources are cited suggesting that PSV Eindhoven will be returning to their continued interest over Dutch defender Sepp van den Berg.

Having been given opportunities in pre-season by fellow Dutchman Slot, van den Berg is garnering interest from clubs across Europe on the back of an impressive loan spell with Mainz during their 2023/24 Bundesliga campaign.

One area where Liverpool could look to strengthen is in attack. The club are actively pursuing a deal for a wide attacking player and have been linked with PSV winger Johan Bakayoko in the past.

The Belgian international is the subject of plenty of interest with journalist Sacha Tavolieri reporting that Nottingham Forest have made an approach for his services earlier this summer.

That approach did not come to fruition. However, his report claims that PSV are still prepared for any 'last minute' offers can happen and already have some replacements on their radar.
