Liverpool transfer news today - Neves CONTACT, Reds WORKING on Yilmaz & Bremer RESPONDS to rumours
With Euro 2024 and the Copa America coming to a close, the summer transfer window is beginning to heat up across Europe.
Liverpool are one of the Premier League sides yet to make a signing this summer, but it feels as if the window may be about to explode into life for the Reds.
Here is all the latest Liverpool transfer news.
LIVERPOOL MAKE CONTACT FOR JOAO NEVES
Liverpool have contacted Benfica over in-demand midfielder Joao Neves according to the latest reports in Portugal.
Neves, 19, has established himself as one of the best up and coming young midfielders in Europe over the last year and there is now a Premier League-wide scramble to sign him, according to O Jogo.
In a report revealing English interest in eight current Benfica stars, it was revealed that enquiries had come from Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United over Neves.
The homegrown creator signed a new Benfica deal at the start of last season, tying him to the club until 2028, and there is reported to be a buyout clause of €120 million in his current deal.
It’s been reported that the Lisbon giants are desperate to renew Neves’ deal and offer him a pay bump but those efforts have so far fallen on deaf ears.
LIVERPOOL 'WORKING' ON SURPRISE BARIS ALPER YILMAZ DEAL
Liverpool have started work on a deal to sign Galatasaray star Baris Alper Yilmaz following his impressive Euro 2024 displays, according to a Turkish outlet.
Yilmaz represented Turkey during this summer's tournament and started all five of their matches in Germany, putting in some promising performances.
That right flank is where Yilmaz primarily operates for Galatasaray, scoring seven goals and providing a further 12 assists in 55 appearances for the Turkish giants last season.
According to Turkish outlet Milliyet, Liverpool 'immediately started working' on a deal to sign Yilmaz after Turkey's exit from Euro 2024.
It's reported that Yilmaz's display against the Netherlands in the last eight 'surprised' the Reds and that they are now one of several big European clubs chasing his signature, with Manchester United and Tottenham among his other suitors.
The forward will supposedly command a fee of €30m (£25m) and Galatasaray are willing to cash in on one of their prized assets following his Euro 2024 campaign.
GLEISON BREMER RESPONDS TO LIVERPOOL LINKS
Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Juventus and Brazil centre-back Gleison Bremer, with the defender having responded to recent rumours.
Before the Brazilian completed a transfer to Juve back in 2022, Liverpool were among the teams reported to be watching the then-Torino central defender.
Italian media reports suggest there is a buyout clause in his current deal worth between €60 million and €70m, but it will only become active in 2025.
Speaking to Diario AS before Brazil's Copa America exit, Bremer said: "I am very focused on the Copa America and I leave the matter to my agents.
"Of course, I have read some things and I am happy to know which clubs with so much history could follow me, but the truth is that I will speak to them after the Copa America."
ALISSON STILL A 'TOP TARGET' FOR AL NASSR
Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr are still desperate to sign Alisson this summer and would prefer the Liverpool goalkeeper over Manchester City stopper Ederson.
Liverpool's Brazilian has been linked with a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia in recent months, although it's been reported that he will turn down any advances in favour of continuing on Merseyside.
After Alisson had given no indications of wanting a Saudi switch, the Pro League turned to Manchester City's Ederson, who is reportedly open to the move should the right proposal come along.
However, Alisson remains the league's 'top target' in terms of goalkeepers.
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Alisson is still firmly on Saudi Arabia's wishlist, despite the fact that Al Nassr have reportedly already agreed personal terms with Man City's Ederson.
Man City supposedly want £42m to let Ederson leave this summer but that's a price tag that Al Nassr are unwilling to meet.
While they hope to lower the fee in negotiations with the Cityzens, Al Nassr are planning on contacting Alisson once again to see if he has changed his mind on a move to Asia.
JUVENTUS STILL FAVOURITES FOR TEUN KOOPMEINERS
Juventus remain in pole position for Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners according to Fabrizio Romano with plans under way in Turin to raise sufficient funds in order to complete a deal this summer.
Koopmeiners, 26, is under contract with Atalanta until 2027 and the club are reported to want a minimum €55 million cash deal for their midfield jewel in this transfer window.
Juventus are long-standing suitors of the Dutch international and the player is known to be keen on remaining in Serie A.
However, Thiago Motta’s side have fallen short of Atalanta’s asking price in previous negotiations and have got work to do before they can secure Arne Slot’s former AZ dynamo.
“Despite some rumours about Liverpool entering the race for Teun Koopmeiners, my information is that the only club in negotiations for the Atalanta midfielder right now is Juventus,” Romano wrote in his Caught Offside column.
