Liverpool transfer news today: Star can LEAVE as mega deal made
Liverpool to let Federico Chiesa leave
Foot Mercato claims Chiesa wants to move back to Italy, even just for six months. Napoli are now the frontrunners for his signature, with Antonio Conte eager to add him to the ranks there.
Liverpool have not been in favour of letting Chiesa go but held private talks with his agent recently. Out of that came an agreement that they'd discuss potential moves away in January.
Napoli, though, lack the finances to push through a permanent deal. This would just be a loan to the end of the season - and one that, potentially, gets done quickly.
Liverpool make Trent Alexander-Arnold offer
The Mirror reports that Trent Alexander-Arnold has been offered a massive new contract by Liverpool. FSG have signed off on a deal that would see him become one of the most highly-paid players in the Premier League.
Alexander-Arnold's contract expires at the end of the season, of course, and he's heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid. So heavily, in fact, that Los Blancos actually made an offer to sign him permanently in January.
The Reds rejected that offer, however, and rightly so. They fully intend to keep their vice-captain and are now hoping to end all speculation with this huge offer.
The Mirror claims Liverpool have offered Alexander-Arnold around £78m over five years. It works out to around £300k per week, which is apparently also what Real Madrid have offered the Scouser.
Liverpool to miss out on Trent successor
Trent Alexander-Arnold has been eligible since January 1 to speak to overseas clubs about a potential pre-contract agreement next summer.
Accordingly, Real Madrid have the option to approach Trent and his entourage directly over a bumper contract.
And should Liverpool end up losing their homegrown hero for nothing, they will be requiring a replacement. While Conor Bradley is a fine prospect, the club’s hierarchy may opt for an alternative in the position.
Amar Dedic, who plays for Jurgen Klopp’s Red Bull Salzburg enjoyed a breakout 2024 leading to transfer links to Liverpool as well as Manchester United. The 22-year-old Bosnian played under Pep Lijnders until his sacking by Salzburg and is seen as one of the few positives in a forgettable season thus far.
Salzburg will be expecting to lose the full-back in the summer transfer window but he could end up making an inter-company move rather than striking out for the Premier League.
Premier League star can REPLACE Dominik Szoboszlai
Intriguing links emerged earlier this week when Morgan Gibbs-White was associated with a Liverpool move.
The 24-year-old Nottingham Forest playmaker has been in sensational form this season as his side shoot up the standings.
But where could he fit in? And who should be worried about their place in the team?
According to FBRef, the most similar Premier League players to Gibbs-White over the last 365 days are Dominik Szoboszlai, Bruno Fernandes, James Maddison and Alex Iwobi.
The Szoboszlai comparison could spell danger for the Hungary captain, who was challenged by Arne Slot earlier this season to up his chance creation and goalscoring numbers.
Liverpool player to LEAVE immediately
Brazilian goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga is leaving Liverpool for Fluminense.
Pitaluga initially arrived back in 2020 as a highly-rated prospect and one who was constantly on the cusp of making the senior squad.
However, it's never worked out. Pitaluga has disappeared on several loans instead, with his latest being with Livingston in Scotland.
It's an interesting deal, too. There's no transfer fee here at all, and instead the two clubs will split Pitaluga's rights.
Liverpool retain 40% of them, with Fluminense gaining 60%. Essentially, anyone who wants to buy Pitaluga in the future must pay the Reds for their share.
Liverpool identify Darwin Nunez UPGRADE
No player flatters to deceive quite like Darwin Nunez. The striker arrived at Liverpool full of promise and you could instantly see the potential there.
However, nothing has changed, really, and it's becoming clear that what you see with Nunez is what you get.
Liverpool reportedly like the look of Inter's Marcus Thuram. Though, to be fair, all of Europe should right now - he's one of the best forwards going this season.
And we're far from the only ones saying that. Over at The Transfer Flow, they've jumped on the bandwagon after assessing both Thuram and Nunez in their newsletter.
Real Madrid shun Liverpool with latest Trent approach
With Liverpool unwilling to do business for Trent Alexander-Arnold, Los Blancos are ready to cut Liverpool out of the picture.
TBR Football is reporting that Madrid will send an OFFICIAL contract offer to Trent in the coming days with Liverpool powerless to prevent it.
The report states that the transfer approach was sanctioned by chief scout Juni Calafat, who is seeking a replacement for the injured Dani Carvajal at right-back.
The idea was originally thought up by club president Florentino Perez but those efforts came to nothing.
Bidding war as SECOND club bids for Liverpool star
Crystal Palace bid £15m for Ben Doak on Friday afternoon, hoping to win a race for the Scot after his brilliant form with Middlesbrough.
Liverpool, though, rejected that offer. They want £30m for Doak and are willing to stand strong on that.
The Athletic's David Ornstein claims Ipswich Town have now also bid for Doak. They put £16m on the table - which is quite a ridiculous offer, if we're being honest.
It's blatantly just marginally higher than Palace's and we can't imagine there was much debate at Anfield about accepting it. Again, Liverpool are sticking to that £30m valuation.
But this is now a bidding war and one that could see bids rise sharply. The pair of Premier League clubs are unlikely to be the only ones looking on either.
FSG FUMBLE key Salah decision
Things are falling apart at Liverpool as FSG continue to blunder the Mo Salah situation. There must be a solution.
Any offers coming from Liverpool are now up against formal offers elsewhere. That's not a good thing.
This is the first time that the world's best player actively wants to sign a contract with Liverpool. Genuinely, that has never happened before.
Great players have wanted to play for the Reds but the absolute world's best? They're typically looking elsewhere. Liverpool have always lacked the financial power to sign him.
So that's the scenario FSG are handed. The world's best player wants to play for their club but he's a bit old.
