Liverpool transfer news today: Dorgu wanted, Di Gregorio rejects Reds, Calafiori update
Here’s all the latest Liverpool transfer news. The Reds have their eyes on a new left-back, currently playing in Serie A.
Liverpool like Dorgu
Liverpool have been interested in young Lecce full-back Patrick Dorgu 'for months', according to an Italian report.
19-year-old Dorgu enjoyed a terrific campaign in Serie A last term, playing 32 times for Lecce as they achieved a respectable 14th-placed finish.
The left-back, who scored twice in 17 league starts, wowed during his breakout season in senior football, and the Denmark under-21 international is attracting interest from Europe's elite sides as a result.
Dorgu has previously been linked with several Serie A giants, including Milan, Napoli and recent Europa League winners Atalanta, but the teenager is also appreciated by a number of Premier League sides.
Di Gregorio rejects Reds
The agent of Juventus’s latest signing, Michele Di Gregorio, has confirmed there were talks with Liverpool. The player rejected the Reds, however.
It seems Liverpool did in fact try to sign Michele Di Gregorio this summer. The Italian goalkeeper has now left Monza for Juventus, a move that recognises him as one of the absolute best goalkeepers in Serie A.
The Reds certainly thought he was just that, too. Di Gregori's agent, Carlo Belloni, has admitted that talks were held with Liverpool, but they ultimately went with Juventus.
Chiesa could be available
Long-term Liverpool target Federico Chiesa looks increasingly likely to leave Juventus this summer and could be available for as little as £17m.
Links between Liverpool and Chiesa date back years but more recent reports suggest that the Reds are still big admirers of the 51-cap Italy international.
Chiesa didn't enjoy the best season of his career with Juventus in 2023/24 and struggled to make a significant impact as Italy were knocked out of Euro 2024 by Switzerland in the last 16.
Arsenal near Calafiori deal
Liverpool are watching on as Arsenal take a major step towards signing Riccardo Calafiori. Should the Reds enter the race properly?
Fabrizio Romano reports that Arsenal are very close to signing Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna. The Gunners have been linked for a few weeks now and are in talks with the Italian club over a fee.
But they've already taken the biggest step: getting Calafiori on board. He's verbally agreed to join Arsenal after being offered a contract worth around £3.5m net per year.
