Here’s all your latest Liverpool transfer news to catch up on. Manchester City have entered the Martin Zubimendi race.

Man City in for Zubimendi

Manchester City are ready to exploit a loophole that Liverpool couldn’t and sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad.

Revolo reports that Manchester City are now hoping to sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad in January. Zubimendi, of course, publicly rejected Liverpool after having agreed to join the Reds in the summer.

He decided to remain with Sociedad, his boyhood club and where he's played the entirety of his football career. However, City believe they can take advantage of a situation that Liverpool couldn't.

There's a very obvious loophole here in that while Sociedad don't want to sell the midfielder, he has a release clause in his contract. That's how Liverpool tried to sign him - pay the £52m release clause and Sociedad are out of the picture.

The problem in the summer was that Zubimendi himself wasn't up for the move.

CaughtOffside’s report that attacking target Omar Marmoush would reportedly only cost around £25m from Eintracht Frankfurt, then, is incredibly welcome news.

Marmoush has emerged as a target for Liverpool in recent days. However, he is also emerging as a target for Manchester United, West Ham and Nottingham Forest, whilst Arsenal have been tracking him for a longer time.

Manchester United and West Ham are reportedly looking into Marmoush as an option as early as this January. Both clubs are unhappy with their recent additions in attacking positions and are aiming to rectify that by adding again.

As a result, the competition may boost the price up. The possibility of signing the Egyptian may be able to relate into the contract negotiations with Liverpool’s current Egyptian icon Salah, and able to play off each other - Marmoush can play with his legendary compatriot, Salah can see Liverpool are serious about accommodating him.

Real set transfer meeting

Several names have been linked to Real Madrid as potential signings, including Castello Lukeba from RB Leipzig, who has been closely monitored by the club, and Palmeiras’ young centre-back Vítor Reis (18).

Per Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid will hold a meeting in the coming days to assess the available market options to cover for Dani Carvajal’s absence. It’s clear that his injury has significantly altered the club’s transfer strategy for January.

Alexander-Arnold will be on the agenda at that meeting. Whether it pushes Real towards a January move or comes to nothing, it's something that inevitably puts pressure on Liverpool.

Barcelona want Nunez

GIVEMESPORT are reporting that Spanish giants Barcelona 'remain interested' in acquiring Darwin Núñez.

There were links between the £85 million man and the Catalan outfit over the summer that, obviously, did not materialise. Yet the GMS report states that Barca are aware of it being a make-or-break season for the striker.

Hansi Flick’s men currently sit top of La Liga with 24 points from nine games. And whilst starting striker Robert Lewandowski has begun the season in fine form - 12 goals in 10 games in all competitions - he is 36 years old and still the only out-and-out striker in their squad.

Reds' contract troubles

The Times’ Paul Joyce is reporting that the club are at a “continued impasse” with their key contract trio, and that while talks have been ongoing, they “have not found common ground”.

This is a development that would concern any Koppite. There was no expectation that these deals were going to be easy, particularly with Trent facing interest from Real Madrid and Salah reportedly facing a Cristiano Ronaldo-beating contract from Saudi Arabia.

But combined with reports of contract extensions for other players suggests that the club are seeing an unwillingness from the players’ side to relent on their demands.

Joyce also writes that new sporting director Richard Hughes “inherited” the situation and deals with other squad members are “partly motivated by a desire to prevent a similar scenario from materialising”.
