Liverpool transfer news today: Major EXCLUSIVE as Mo Salah decision MADE
Here's all your transfer news for Tuesday 17th December.
EXCLUSIVE: Newly-crowned Footballer of the Year WANTS Liverpool move
Ademola Lookman is the CAF Footballer of the Year for 2024. He's also a player hoping to move to Liverpool.
CAF named Ademola Lookman the African Footballer of the Year on Monday night in Marrakech. Lookman wins the award for an outstanding season in Italy with Atalanta.
Anfield Watch understands that Lookman's representatives openly told Liverpool in the summer that they would like a move to Anfield. This is largely down to the player wanting a return to the North West of England, where he previously played for Everton.
Mo Salah DECIDES his future after latest Liverpool offer
Marca in Spain claim that Salah has made his decision - he wants to stay. They're claiming he's been seduced by Liverpool's offer and that a deal isn't far off.
Now, please take this with a pinch of salt. It's very hard to believe that Marca have the lead on this story though there is a slim chance they might.
Also, Salah wanting to stay and actually signing the contract Liverpool have in front of him are two different things. There may still be a lot of ironing out to do here.
But we'll take this as positive news - and bank on it having at least some legitimacy to it. Hopefully, this is followed by a flurry of reports saying the same thing.
Momodou Sonko WOWS Liverpool scouts
Anfield Watch exclusively reported that Liverpool scouts are back watching Sonko's games at Gent in the Belgium top flight.
Sonko is a player who has been on Liverpool's radar since he was 12 years old and was even invited on a trial to the club at that age.
Liverpool came close to signing him back in the January transfer window. However, in the end Gent won the race with the promise of first team football.
Sonko's first few months at the club were about acclimatising to the new league and adjusting to a new system. He's now fully settled though and he's in great form, showcasing just why Liverpool are continuing to monitor his progress.
Liverpool IMPRESSED with Ricci
Anfield Watch revealed earlier this month that one of the names under consideration as a Martin Zubimendi alternative was the Torino midfielder Samuele Ricci.
The 23-year-old Italy international is seen as the coming midfield force in Italian football, establishing himself in the Azzurri lineup throughout 2024 and is widely expected to move on from Turin soon.
We understand that Liverpool staff are impressed by Ricci’s numbers and the club even made contact with Torino in order to enquire about him.
However the club were discouraged by a €60m (£50m) asking price. But with Ricci only under contract until 2026, his price could well reduce accordingly despite being a key player for Paolo Vanoli’s side.
Now media in Italy has followed our lead and confirmed Liverpool's interest.
£90m Kudus bid expected
The Mirror claims Liverpool are ready to test West Ham’s resolve for Mohammed Kudus in the January transfer window.
Valued at £90m, the Ghana international has experienced a difficult season thus far under Julen Lopetegui at the London Stadium. The 24-year-old has scored only TWICE in the Premier League all season and has also served a three-match ban for a red card picked up against Tottenham.
But there is a potentially world class player in there and the former Ajax star is already well acquainted with John Heitinga, a member of Arne Slot’s Liverpool staff who coached Kudus in Amsterdam.
We also revealed a couple of months ago that Kudus was making DEMANDS of his entourage to sound out a move to Liverpool.
