An expected offer from Liverpool has not arrived and they’re now set to miss out on a 26-year-old midfielder. Teun Koopmeiners is off elsewhere.

Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Juventus are increasingly confident of signing Teun Koopmeiners from Atalanta. They've been linked with the Dutchman all year long, but were thought to be at a disadvantage.

That's because Juventus don't have much to spend. They can't meet Atalanta's ideal price for Koopmeiners, but the Bergamo club have agreed to let him go.

They were banking on big offers from the Premier League but those offers simply haven't arrived. Juventus, then, feel confident that they can get Koopmeiners in a deal they can budget for.

Liverpool were strongly linked all year but it appears they won't be making an offer. At the very least, they're running out of time to put one in as Juventus are ready to push forward on a deal worth around £34m.

If Liverpool want Koopmeiners, now's the time to act.

Teun Koopmeiners and Liverpool

Koopmeiners had a fantastic season for Atalanta as they won the UEFA Europa League. He shone against Liverpool, in fact, as the Italians dumped the Reds out of the competition en route to the final.

The midfielder has publicly talked about his desire to leave, too, making some sort of transfer a formality. The links to Liverpool are easy, too: not only were they reportedly interested before he moved to Atalanta, but that was at a time when he played under Arne Slot at AZ Alkmaar.

There is a debate, however, whether Liverpool actually need a new attack-minded midfielder. They've got plenty as it is, and funding a move for a more defensive player would surely make more sense.

But as you've likely noticed, things are very quiet at Liverpool right now. They're surely making moves behind the scenes but exactly what kind of player they want is a bit of a mystery.

Koopmeiners, it seems, isn't it.
