Liverpool already have their new Steven Gerrard, now they will sign their NEXT Jamie Carragher
For over a decade, Liverpool had an iconic scouse duo at the club that made the Reds connect with the supporters of the city.
Jamie Carragher and Steven Gerrard were cult heroes at Anfield who stood for all the right values and everything that Liverpool represented.

They were both lynchpins of the team in the early 2000s era. Gerrard was probably one of the best players to ever play for the club. Carragher often goes under the radar, but he too was a brilliant defender and among the best in the league in his prime.
For years, Liverpool have been searching for players to fill their void in the team, to add an extra bit of scouse camaraderie and this summer Richard Hughes could finally secure that for the Reds.
In turn, Arne Slot would subsequently have his own version of the Gerrard and Carragher duo, and this version could be even more electric and exciting.

Why Curtis Jones is Liverpool's new Steven Gerrard
With Trent Alexander-Arnold's future up in the air, it feels like the club's next scouse star in the team is primed to be Curtis Jones.
He's been at Liverpool for a very long time as a boyhood fan of the club he understands both what it means to wear the Liver Bird on his chest and what it means to be from the city and represent the city every time you wear the club's shirt.
Jones is also proving himself to be an excellent player. He's been pivotal in Slot's team on their quest to win another league title and at 24 years old, the sky is the limit for him.
As Pep Lijnders recently said, Jones is one of England's 'most complete' midfielders.
But if Alexander-Arnold leaves the club, there will be a scouse void that needs to be filled and last week Liverpool's inside Anfield footage may have hinted at the perfect 'Carragher' to Jones' 'Gerrard.'

In Liverpool's latest Inside Anfield video posted on the club's official YouTube channel fans can get an insight into the scenes inside the tunnel post-match against Newcastle United.
And eagle eyed fans will have spotted an interesting conversation taking place between Anthony Gordon and Jones after the game.
The duo seem to be in good spirits and Jones looks to be making jokes with Gordon at around 16:40. It's interesting that Liverpool's media team included this in their tunnel video considering the links to Gordon and Liverpool in the summer.
Recently, this was a subject on the League of their Own, where Jamie Redknapp claimed the Reds were ready to spend £80m on the Newcastle winger.
Gordon actually used to play for Liverpool's academy but he made his breakthrough at Everton so like Carragher (who was an Everton fan) he has closer relationships with the blue side of Merseyside.
At a professional level, that is at least. On a personal level, Gordon's entire family supports Liverpool as he revealed in the above League of their Own performance.
Last summer, Liverpool could not quite get the deal over the line, but when the media team is posting clips like this of Gordon, and with his close affiliations to the city, it's only a matter of time.

And when the Reds do get him, Jones will finally have his 'Carragher' in the team based on the Anfield tunnel clips, at least.
