Liverpool to finally land FANTASTIC midfielder with Gerrard's seal of approval
Liverpool are preparing for a summer transfer shakeup. With renewals close for Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, it ensures that sporting director Richard Hughes and head coach Arne Slot will NOT have to sign a starting centre-back or right winger.
Instead, other positions can get attention with left-back and No9 in particular areas earmarked for improvement. That said, the club are also keeping abreast of the situation in midfield with several candidates recently linked as potential arrivals.

Among them have been Ederson of Atalanta, Nicolo Rovella of Lazio and Stuttgart’s Angelo Stiller. And now another familiar name is back on the list in the form of Aston Villa starter Boubacar Kamara.

The 25-year-old defensive midfielder has been with Villa since 2022 when he moved from hometown club Marseille on a free transfer.
Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard was Villa manager back then, travelling to the south of France in order to personally convince Kamara to make the move.
"I think we’ve signed a fantastic player with huge potential," the former Reds' captain said at his unveiling.
And when Fabinho left the club in 2023, Kamara was shortlisted as a replacement by Liverpool recruitment staff alongside Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia according to the Athletic.
Liverpool 'circling' for Kamara
The France international's first season in Birmingham got off to a flyer but an injury sustained in late 2022 ultimately cost him a place at the Qatar World Cup.
Kamara is under contract at Villa Park until 2027 and according to TBR Football, Unai Emery’s club are already plotting contract talks.
That’s because plenty of interest has been registered in Kamara from top Premier League sides including Liverpool.
“Kamara has gone from strength to strength under Unai Emery at Aston Villa, becoming one of the most important players in the team,” a report reads.
“As a result, the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea are all circling around the Villans lynchpin.
“Kamara is a player that has caught the eye of Italian champions Inter Milan amongst others.”
Kamara integral to Villa success
Kamara was inactive during the first part of the season while recovering from a serious knee injury sustained in February 2024 but has been consistent in the Premier League and Champions League since returning to fitness.
Villa have reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League, currently 3-1 down on aggregate to Paris Saint-Germain, and are also into the FA Cup semi-finals.
