Liverpool fans may not like this one. The Reds have a plan for a want-away star that could really backfire.

It was reported this week that Liverpool were looking at a rethink over Stefan Bajcetic. The Reds sent him out on loan to Red Bull Salzburg in the summer in what seemed like the perfect move.

Bajcetic barely featured last season thanks to injuries. It was a massive disappointment after his excellent campaign in 2022/23 - the kid needed minutes.

And so where better than Salzburg? They're in European competitions, constantly competing for trophies and Bajcetic could expect to start regularly.

Even better, Pep Lijnders, who helped Bajcetic come through at Liverpool, was taking over as head coach. Genuinely, it felt too perfect to be true.

Only, everything collapsed. Lijnders had a shocking time in charge and Bajcetic struggled badly for form. The Dutchman was eventually sacked before Christmas and that immediately brought about question marks over the player.

What to do with Stefan Bajcetic?

Liverpool reportedly reacted to this change by wanting to bring Bajcetic back. That was the line out of Rousing the Kop, who claimed the Reds were now in talks with Real Betis over a loan move for the player.

The report suggests Bajcetic is unhappy at Salzburg - something backed up by him deleting all references to the club from Instagram.

Fabrizio Romano then supported the suggestion of talks, claiming they were advanced with Betis. Only, it appears they didn't go well.

The Daily Mail now claims Liverpool plan on leaving Bajcetic at Salzburg. This is a controversial plan to say the least.

Bajcetic is one of the brightest prospects at the club and leaving him unhappy at a struggling team - and without a coach they can trust to play him, feels like a massive risk. And a risk not really worth taking.

Liverpool could surely find a better place for Bajcetic and yet, they'll stick with the Salzburg plan. We're not sure it's going to work.

And if it doesn't, fans will rightly question it all.
