One of Liverpool’s most profitable assets both on and off the pitch this season has been their academy talent.

The loan spells of Ben Doak, Owen Beck and Lewis Koumas in the Championship are going swimmingly, and players such as Tyler Morton, Trey Nyoni and James McConnell have all seen first-team minutes this season.

And there is expected to be more coming against Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup tomorrow, with youth team captain Amara Nallo potentially seeing action at centre-back.

Another that has emerged back onto the scene is Jayden Danns, who became a bit of a young favourite last season under Jurgen Klopp.

In the summer Danns had serious links to Plymouth Argyle, managed at the time by Wayne Rooney, before a back injury scuppered a move to the south coast.

But a report by FootballLeagueWorld has put those links back on the table.

Is Jayden Danns Plymouth-bound?

Veteran striker Andre Gray left Home Park on the expiration of a short contract at the start of the month leaving a significant gap in the centre-forward department. The report suggests that Argyle should be doing “all they can” to get Danns down south over the coming weeks.

Categorising the deal as a “priority” surely means that it will be pushed over the line in one way or another. A loan deal is almost guaranteed if anything were to emerge.

Plymouth currently sit bottom of the Championship, three points adrift from safety at time of writing. They last won on 5th November, beating fellow newly-promoted Portsmouth 1-0 at home, with six losses in their last 10 games.

Rooney was sacked following a 2-0 loss to last season’s League One playoff winners Oxford United, with the side having scored a league-low 24 goals in in 25 games.

If Danns does head out on loan he will be up against it in terms of expectation in a difficult division. Any development will come from game time and physical conditioning, with his ability to run in behind and stretch defences being paramount.

He has seen little action since returning from injury, but managed to score in a 67-minute outing against Girona in the UEFA Youth League and was rewarded with a cameo against Southampton in the League Cup quarter-final.

Hopefully he will be able to re-find the form that saw him score a brace in under half an hour against Southampton in the FA Cup last season.
